GFC 500 Tips for Vertical? Nav?

That... That is the panel I want. I have a GI275 that is going to become the backup and my audio panel is a GMA350c with the voice commands, but you've got the rest. I still need to add the G3Xs (really kinda hoping a "G4X" comes out soon) and GFC500, and will probably just stick with the GNC355 since I don't think #2 Nav radio is worth an extra $5,850. :o

Now I need to go mop up all this drool.
How do you like the voice commands. Is it helpful in high workload situations? That, and the 3-D sound is why I am installing a 350c vs a PMA audio panel.

Very nice. What had you choose the G500TXi vs G3X for your display?

@Pinecone What led you to the G3X for your panel?

Since I was all Garmin, I did not need the ability to interface with non-Garmin stuff. And it was cheaper. :)

The only thing I don't like is, the G3X doesn't have a high speed bus, so you can't crossfill the databases from the GTNs.

I am hoping for the replacement (G3Xi or G4X) that will add faster processor, higher resolution and data transfer.

The data transfer doesn't even need to be super fast, as long as it is smart. Like, if you have a flight plan loaded, it starts with things needed for that FP, and then expands from there. If flying the SE, I don't need IAPs for Washington state for a while.

I don't know that I've been in a high workload situation where it really would have helped, but it does things I can't do because of what is (or isn't) attached. If you have all the gear and you can do "Say Winds" on short final that might be quite helpful.

The thing it most helps with is quickly navigating the somewhat clunky UI of the GTN. "Show destination airport weather" is a lot faster than Home->Waypoint Info->Airport->Wx Data. And if you do something like "Show Traffic" (or any other "Show" command) you're only a single Back command or tap away from the map instead of Home->Map.

I probably do "Show Traffic" the most, and I definitely appreciate things like "Tune Destination Tower" that are much quicker than doing things by hand. I'm definitely glad I have the capability.

Thanks for your perspective. I’m looking forward to having the capability.
