I'm not sure how I'm supposed to have fun with that. That thing will spill gas all over the place. I didn't say I just wanted an expensive gas can. I said I wanted a gas can that I could refuel small tanks and not spill
and I'm willing to pay for it. Sorry, this is not the solution I'm looking for.

Seriously though, a quick google search of "best gas cans" inspired by this thread turned up a number of decent alternatives to the silly CARB compliant garbage. A few were even sissy State compliant. One brand in particular came up a lot with a push button thingy on it. Apparently racing fuel containers are still not brain dead and readily available too.
Never had a problem spilling fuel in any cans, old or new, when paying attention and not in a rush.
Nothing I've ever spilled from a gas can even comes close to what the airplane did in the hangar when the bladder let loose and no one was around to see it. Pretty sure I've used up all my fuel spilling karma for a lifetime with that single event. The tank wasn't empty and there wasn't any fuel around when we found it.
Just the standard blue goo all over the side of the pilot's side door. It went somewhere. I'm sure the low-lead fuel is out there killing someone right now and every airport in the country is a potential superfund site. Oh well. Call the EPA. I'm sure they'll have some paperwork to fill out that'll kill at least an entire old growth forest to make the paper. Haha.
Meanwhile I have big funnels and old gas cans with real vents. They haven't spilled any significant quantities of fuel anywhere in the decade or two that I've had them.
That was my point in posting a NATO style can. Buy something that'll last a couple of lifetimes and just stop spilling. The use of plastic is a bigger problem than the spillage if you pay attention to what you're doing.
Every garage should have a set of various sizes of funnels.
Do people really not know how to make one out of various plastic crap that's all headed for the landfill anyway, like the milk jugs? Heck in a pinch even a cardboard box works. There will be trace amounts of fuel on them but it's better than splashing it all over the place.
There's even little "fuel stations" with hoses and nozzles like a gas station would have that have wheels and you can roll them around. Or the old standby, used on every farm... A real tank and a hose on a stand, or in an old pickup truck bed.
There's so many good options other than the little red plastic things. Plenty of workarounds that won't spill if you don't, right?
