Pre-Flight
I'm going to post this on a few forums as I'm trying to find ideas on what could be the issue. I'm having an issue in my Saratoga that just after rotation I get an ATTITUDE FAIL message. My shop checked all connections and there weren't any issues. The suggested I capture video of the LRU status page when the issue occurs which I've done in the attached video. They have spoken with Garmin and are saying that it may be the AHRS unit but we are hesitant to replace it until we know for sure. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Here is the sequence of events and some things that were observed.
1) For a very brief instance just after rotation the screen flashed "CHECK ATTITUDE". This happened so quickly that I didn't even notice it until I reviewed the video. Another thing I notice is that the wind box on the left side changed to "NO WIND DATA".
2) The big red X and "ATTITUDE FAIL" message came up but all other information on the PFD looks okay
3) A few seconds later on the LRU Status page both the GMU and GRS had and X on status. This was only for a couple of seconds and then I received the AHRS ALIGN - Keep Wings Level message.
4) There was an advisory so I went to the alerts page. Initially it showed the HDG LOST message. Very quickly and just before everything was normal again notice that three GAD43 messages. I'm not sure if this happened as a result of the failure or as the cause of the failure.
Hopefully this is enough information to isolate the issue. I put the plane back in my hangar as I thought you might need to do some research and order parts. After you review please give me a call and we can discuss the plan.
Here are the 2 videos taken showing the problem occur.
- I think this is the better video and here are some screenshots of the key points that I identified above.
