On an endurance competition of who can take a complete non-story and turn it in to an exclusive coverage national news item for the longest period of time straight, with no break. They went head to head for a couple hours, then finally CNN threw in a jobs report for a couple minutes at the end.

Seriously, in my neighborhood, reports of shots fired wouldn't even make the local news, even it it WASN'T a false alarm.

True, but let's just say that there is a heightened awareness at the Navy Yard after the 2013 shooting. The Program Office (PMS 377) I currently work with was directly affected by the original shooting. Seriously messed up a lot of folks.

This alarm also came at the same time as warnings were being sent out to the DoD about potential for terrorist attacks on military personnel by ISIL sympathizers this weekend.

I get that part of it but come on, once it's found to be a false alarm, it's time to move on, not chauffeur Rudy Giuliani to the news room, stick a really gaudy bow tie on him and have him to a detailed analysis on the situation.

" Aren't these loonies proud to be Islamic, and force their version of Islam onto their neighbors' throats? (Literally, the same way that Islam spread in the 8th century--convert or die.) ISIL? No, it's a convenient means to an end. They would just assume use any religion or cause that is handy and that would serve the purpose. They want power and money. That's it.
