ForeFlight question, what do you use and why on the bottom instrument strip

    Note:
(You turn it "on" the bottom instrument strip in ForeFlight by pressing the top button to the right of the heads up display button)

On the bottom ribbon strip from left to right

I have in slot 1 the nearest airport, which gives my relative position from the nearest airport. I use it when I make my call for flight following to give ATC my exact position or you can also use it to look for an airport in an emergency

In slot 2, I have Bearing Next, I use it to help navigate to my next waypoint during my vfr flight.

In slot 3, I have Distance to Next way point

In slot 4, I have Course Next, which gives me the desired course to the next waypoint. I have not found much difference between the Bearing Next and the Course Next data.
I am not sure what the difference is, at first I thought it would give me the new change in direction to the next waypoint before I got there, but it does not seem to be doing that.

I am thinking about changing it to something more helpful, like ETA to the next destination waypoint.

In slot 5, I have Cross Track Error, side distance from current leg in NM. It helps me stay on course

In slot 6, I have ETA destination, to give me an overall time of arrival.

I am trying not to repeat data that is in the heads up display.

What does everyone else use and why?

I display altitude AGL when flying a Cirrus so that I can instantly determine whether I'm at or above minimum CAPS deployment altitude.

I usually have it turned off. I know I have estimated times and distances to the next waypoint and destination, the nearest airport, and the reported GPS accuracy because I care about those. Beyond that, I'm not sure.

Like Mark, usually turned off. Information that could be there I find elsewhere on panel or in the FF App.

I'm also a bit critical that that wasn't the best choice of placement for the UI. Should have been toward the top as our scan of a tablet naturally is top left to right bottom.

WX has this information along the top and it is much easier to scan and assimilate.

I agree with Mike. That bar should be at the top. I have turned it off as a result.

Hmmm...I don't turn it on much either and, as a result, didn't realize that it was customizable. Thanks for the tip.

Crest or Colgate to me. I don't see any of the information there to be critical enough for its location to matter much. Apparently so do you since you turn it off ;)

In terms of use, even though I hide it most of the time as well, I go far more often to the Flight Plan edit, which requires touching rather than glancing, so I guess I'm happy enough with it being at the top.

Why did you black out your lat/long and information? Scared of the POA crazies hunting you down? :)

It was a "find my location" challenge. You have to find the appropriate towers and work from there.
