Most onion rings and other fried appetizers, plus most other restaurant meals, come from two or three major food distributors...
Yep. Probably the best rings I've had was hand battered from Popeye's in the late 80s before they went to the dark size of mass food distribution. The closest I've found is Hops Burger Bar which has a couple locations in NC.

Too much data. Remember, FFB is running on a Raspberry Pi.

I'm definitely adding an onion ring rating supporting, for example, finding rings rated 4 or above within 50 miles.
Not that you'd necessarily want to do this for a hobby project like this, but there's probably free tiers on both AWS and Azure that'd be beefier (pun intended) than a RPi if you wanted to go that route. Just don't put it on us-east-1, as demonstrated this past Monday. :D

And, btw, thanks for putting this site up. I've used it several times over the past few months and added a couple comments along the way.

Please direct me to the gofundme to add Iced Tea ratings next to those rings :D

I don't have a pithy suggested alternate domain name though. Maybe "flew for brews" ? :P

What about a growler icon, since I can't have a brew before I fly back home, to indicate a brewery allows growler fills. This could also be "flew for brews"...or "flewski for brewskis"? :)

There’s a local restaurant that stopped doing onion rings for the stupidest reason. They were great. So popular the restaurant couldn’t keep up with the demand.
I bow to their integrity. Every other product I’ve seen go from obscure but awesome to well-known and hard to keep up with demand was simply turned into a steaming pile of mass-produced garbage instead.

Please put the FIND button below the text. It's a UI/UX thang. If doing this on a phone, you're filling out all the details then need to scroll back to the top to hit FIND.

Next, missing airport CFO. But FTG is there. However, FTG is now CFO.

Don't blame me, none of us like the change. But we get a little red rocket on the VFR maps.

I figured my unemployed, recent Comp Sci major college grad, in between job application rejections, could use a technical project to keep him busy and learn some skills. Send any enhancment suggestions you might have my way. From a techincal persective, I figured upgrading the user interface from Spring Boot/Thymeleaf to something more modern would be a good exercise. Any suggestions for that? Functionally, displaying results on a map with pins would be nice. Also, maybe some statitics on search patterns, restaurants returned most often, etc.

One thought I've had for a while was to include fields for landing/ramp fees, locations of general use parking ramps, crew car availability, stuff like that. Fields that could be included in the search/filter criteria.

I’d support this and give you a few features to expand it.
1. 50nm range rings going out to whatever the max selected distance is
2. Allow a selectable distance. For example show me restaurants between 150 and 225NM.
3. Allow me to put a route in and show me restaurants within 25NM of my route.

Some type of date-weighted, aviation-pun rating/thumbs-up thing would be neat. The older the rating the less its weight.

Not sure how easy that might be, but it'd be a faster way than reading individual comments.
