Has anyone else noticed a slow down with their flight school? It seems the amount of new folks walking through the door has dwindled a tad. Anyone else? Is it the economy or the upcoming holiday season?

It’s inevitable. So many instructors looking for jobs tells newbies that they will be struggling to get from 250 to 1500 hours. The cadet programs have created a pyramid scheme of sorts with a large number of hungry instructors hoping for a large number of students and at some point there is a slowdown.

I don’t have a flight school but I do flight instruct in my 172. Believe it or not there are people that want to learn and are doing it because they want to fly not as some fast track to a high paying job. There’s been no drop off in this category of wanna be pilots.

My local school is mostly foreign students. So how is aviation employment doing in India?

I resembled that statement.

I haven’t seen a slow down as an operator. I see costs continuing to increase though…

On the I wanna fly for fun side of the business, a slow down started over a year ago. On the I wanna fly professionally side, it hasn’t sunk in yet the industry hiring has slowed and there is more in training than the industry will readily absorb. There are still plenty signing up for that.

I know how to make it sink in. Just make an AI video about it.

We have a flight school here at Dona Ana (KDNA) and Las Cruces (KLRU). They both are running 5-7 aircraft per hour at least ... I think they get some overflow from the Arizona schools.

In the current economy/economic environment the upper middle class and wealthy still have plenty of money.

The rest are either struggling or beginning to struggle.

So it depends on who your clientele is.

The rest have been struggling and not reliable flight school customers since 2000.
