Anyone else flying today? Or do I get to capture the flag among the POA denizens as first to log time in 2017? I went flying this morning for some pattern work. It was cold with temps in the mid 20s here in Indiana but climb performance was excellent! A beautiful day except for the temps. Looking forward to many more flights in 2017 in the ol' 172. :)

I am REALLY itching to go fly. Gorgeous wx today but should worsen overnight and the rest of the week. And if I have to go back to work this week, I'd love to have some flying memories to carry me through the dumba**ory that is about to ensue. :)
I hope I can post a few pictures in a few hours.

Too much weather here today and I had to work a day shift. But later when the rest of you guys are complaining about ice and snow I'll be flying in shorts and a long sleeve tee shirt. ;)

I wish I was, but it's LIFR here today. Currently OVC003 with 1-1/2 mile vis. Hopefully I'll be able to sneak out later this week.

This is the scene from the front porch this morning, and it is still coming down. The only thing I'm going to be "flying" is the plow with blade as I clean the driveway :(

Hopped down to Half Moon Bay for an early lunch. A little bumpy but my rarely-flying-wife gave it a thumbs up overall...so I've got that going for me.

Flew twice today, this morning for some multi training and this afternoon for some tailwheel therapy.

We flew today for 2 hours!! :) We had breakfast at a close by airport with some other pilots.

Perfect winter weather in Michigan today. Enjoyed every minute. :)

I went out at Midnight so I could get bragging rights for the first flight of the year.
I tossed a Guillow's glider off the front porch.
Unfortunately, I tossed it right into the upright holding up that corner of the front porch.
I claim the first wreck of the New Year.

After a lot of cold days, the local freezing level jumped to 9000, so I went to Watsonville to play in the clouds.

I hope you had in-motion hull insurance with a low deductible on that plane! :)

It was sunny and unseasonably warm (important in an open cockpit) for New Year's Day, and my wife bought me a new GoPro for Christmas, so...

Your airplane looks like its a lot of fun to fly.
Is it a 2 cyl engine? What type?

Dude! Someone stole your canopy and your nose gear! ;)

Seriously though, that looks like great fun!

M66 to ALN on the first.

Did a high speed taxi for testing after annual. Front wheel came up. Does that count?

Got my New Year's fix in by flying an Angel Flight (ROA- DMW) with my wife and son, only to find on return that GSO had gone down to 400' ovc.
So I took off in awesome VFR that morning and returned to shoot my lowest ILS to date (broke out at 390' AGL) that evening.

Now my plane is stranded at GSO until the weather clears. Welcome to 2017. :)

Great WX in central Ohio...was glad to hear lots of other pilots getting their first flight in of the year. Enjoyed a gorgeous sunset just after hangaring the 172. IMG_5393.JPG IMG_5400.JPG

I got to fly on New Years

Had my first solo time in my new-to-me jalopy on New Years Day. Flew on the stall horn for a long time and eventually did a couple of stalls then off to some XC. Seriously beautiful sunset in the haze. Now waiting for another week of winter to blow through.....

Sunday was truly a treat for us on the west side of the state. Glad you got out too.

Ok, it was my second flight since I flew yesterday too. Followed this guy for about 20 minutes today. IMG_8629.JPG
