First CAP meeting

Umm, you do have to go to meetings, so opening meetings with a prayer makes it compulsory.
Im sure reasonable people came to the determination that many peoples rights needed to be considered. Personally, Ive never had a problem sitting quietly and tuning out a 30 second invocation, so I have trouble sympathizing.

Yeah, I never understood why someone would get "offended." There's plenty of other things to be "offended" by.

Yeah. However, I do believe asking for a moment of silence (instead of an actual invocation), to allow those that choose to ask a blessing, to do so, is maybe more PC for today's diverse crowd.

Concord as well.

Did you speak to the commander or anyone to try to change it? Never being in CAP before I thought it was probably normal. Now I see it isn't.

No I did not. I've been around enough to know that the type that just assumes that everyone else is of the same belief that they are will almost always react very negatively to those that don't share that belief. It is a trait common amongst religious types. I don't need the grief that comes with that sort of conflict.

some very good discussion folks. some of you have mentioned a lot of acronyms that i havent heard of, but i will look them up. getting finger print done next week... will see how this all plays out.

Yeah, CAP gets real big on abbreviations and numbered forms and rules. Kinda annoying, but you'll figure it out.

All the emergency services abbreviations are described on your "101 card."

Level I will get you started. You should be assigned a mentor by the squadron.
