Haha I meant fly commercial. And then fly in something a little more capable than my Cherokee 140 with no GPS.

you know, if you did fly in your Cherokee here, that's one the best experiences you will have. I bought my plane in Everett, WA and flew it back to KFAR. it was 12 + hr flight time over cascades, Idaho, Montana and bad lands... (with an ATP as PIC) and I am drooling to do a flight like that on my own... but with very limited experience and being overly conservative... I am not sure if I can do that flight anytime soon

I took a little time between ratings....

    PPL 1980 (17 years old)
IR Written (passed) this morning (Dec 1, 2017 - 54 years old).

Let's see...that is 37 years. I wanted to be SURE that I wanted to experience everything VFR had to offer.

Rest of the story - "lapsed" pilot - I quit flying in the late 1980's when I got married and had kids (poor) and just started back a few months ago. Got my medical and check ride out of the way (bought a plane) and have thoroughly enjoyed my time back flying. However, after a few trips to West Texas and OK, I realized that using an airplane for business (and not just sightseeing like I did in my youth) meant that I really needed the versatility of the IR.
