Drone's aren't for spying - right?

What a asshat, I be he tells himself in the mirror what a important guy he is too :rolleyes2:

Get a life DA.

Skynet just keeps being built. Of course, this news story is about the civilian version. The government version is far more frightening.

This just in: In 2012 - 2013, of the 219 people killed by U.S. drone strikes in Afghanistan, only 35 were actual targets. All the rest were "collateral damage". (Source: US government)

We deal with drones every day down here in South Texas. On the South end of the island, we have a TFR for Predators that take off from Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, climb to 18,000' -- and disappear. We assume they're monitoring the Mexican border.

The future is now.

Told ya in the other drone thread the gov is scared of drones. But of course loves them when they have the keys. If drones are so dangerous don't we all have a right to own them per the 2nd amendment?:nono::rolleyes:;)

Awfully arrogant of our highly paid public employees in relatively small town nowhere to think he was being spied on. Perhaps it just got off course and crashed, drones are know to do that.

Only the ones with guns on them. :D

If this DA is so freaked out by this drone, why doesn't he just take finger prints off the drone and see who last touched it? I bet he finds a bunch of little kid prints that aren't in the system.

Sorry, but I think he's right to be worried. If I was a kid and lost the drone, or a teenager, I'd be looking for it and I wouldn't be scared to go knock on a door and say I lost it. He said as much in the interview - he thought he'd look around and find some kids looking for the drone they lost.

From the article:
"I thought I was going to see a teenage kid standing in a field next to my house saying, 'Hey mister, can I have by drone back?' And that didn't happen," Wilson said.

He's not freaked out, he's flattered, sounds like he is under the illusion that he just became "someone" worthy of spying on.

Frankly I've never heard of his town, his name, or his office

So he has less rights as a private citizen in his own home? There's no possibility he actually put some really bad dudes behind bars that want to get him? Since you've never heard of him it doesn't matter? Whatever.

No, it just sounds like he's trying to make a statement and sound important.

His...tweet...sealed it for me.

That UAS didn't have a payload of any camera which would be worthy of a "spying" label, the dude lives in hicks town America, this screams get a life.

Waxahachie is a next door neighbor of the Metroplex with a really cool airport and some good pilots, not "hicks town America" - which sounds kind of "hick" and derisive, BTW.

Pfft. He has more rights then a private citizen so anyone who cares about him having a little 'intrusion' is an idiot.

Most likely explanation is it was some kid or hobbyist who lost it, didn't know where it went, and doesn't check the news enough to know he's putting this message out there.

People are paranoid these days.

If the drone owner sent in the warranty card to the manufacture the DA could find out who owns it.

This^^^^

Or the worst case scenario a thug WAS spying on him.....and will send his 12-14 year old thug cousin to the PD to ask if anyone has found a lost drone.

Either way the DA is a complete moron and this won't go anywhere near a court.

You know what, I completely disagree. If it was a kid or a hobbyist it wouldn't be a big deal and they probably already would have come forward. It sounds like it would have had to have been flying around his backyard enough for him to notice it. Drones with "fail safe" modes don't just circle around your backyard or the porch...

If someone wants to fly their toy, they need to go out to a model aircraft field. If you fly it over my house with a camera attached, the assumption is that you are spying. This will result in some level of retaliation which you will not like.

Are you kidding me, or just not familiar with small town law once a little mouse gets onto of his soapbox.

Read the twits tweet "if you dare"

No way on earth I would let me kid claim his drone, it would cost thousand and thousands to defend against a rinky dink out of hand DA, even if there was no case.

Someone hears a drone on his back porch, decides to investigate, finds it crashed, doesn't see any kids looking around for it, and you call him a twit? Interesting.
