This e-mail just arrived today. Well, so much for this Sunday's scheduled Flights for Life trip ...

Screen Shot 2019-01-17 at 5.51.59 PM.png

36 hours notice of a 3-1/2 day closure. :(

Maybe they're taking advantage of the opportunity to give the unpaid controllers some time off ...

I like how they went through the trouble to make a website "improvinggoodyear.com". Ill look for the improvements when I am out there next month. P.S. what's with all the yellow Bo's parked out there? I see them when we fly into the FBO for work? (Really nice FBO by the way)

That's the Airline Training Center Arizona fleet -- the school owned by Lufthansa, training pilots for the airline and for the German Air Force. On your next trip you may notice that some of the F33As have been replaced by Cirrus SR20s and SR22s. German Air Force trainees get to fly the spiffy little Grob G.120As.

As I understand, the "improvement" project is to upgrade the parallel taxiway. Up to now, the parallel has not been usable by aircraft with wingspan over 118'. Heavies landing on 21 have had to back-taxi on the runway all the way back to A3.

Must be nice, memorial day is the next holiday we get off...

Got some flying in before the storm on Saturday, first time since 12/30 practiced some emergency procedures. A grass strip in our practice area, that has what looks like a DC3.

A week-long series of rainstorms, and another week of Santa Ana winds kept me grounded...until today!

Sunset pic where you can see Long Beach and Catalina; Fullerton airport and the 5/91 interchange; and Chino Hills, uncharacteristically green. Also some water behind Prado Dam for a change.

That is known as the critical engine now......

Since it is a recall is anything coming out of your pocket.??

Superior Air Parts sent me a crate and is paying everything but my own labor, and since I enjoy wrenching on my plane and now have a place to do it? It's all good.

I have nothing but praise for SAP. They've been great.

Beautiful dog what breeder did it come from.
Not really a breeder.

A couple just NW of Marshfield, MO, Larry and Nancy Davis. They raise/breed horses but have a pair of shepherds that are their pets and that they "allow" to breed...so to speak. Günter was from the latest litter.

Friend of mine sent me this. Taken from his office window. Exactly 0 deg F outside.
A new variation on "taking the Lambo for a spin".

I am flying like a (freight)dawg right now, trying to get as much time as I can before 2nd year insurance renewal (and while I have the cash), also in the hope of quickly transiting the Killing Zone.
Today was great wTX/NM wx so I went to a fly-in bfast KODO then just went tooling around to the west; Guadalupe Peak - Ruisodo NM - SierraBlanca peak - around the N end, Alamagordo - thread the R-space needle to El Paso, over to near MrBezo’s rocket site then home. There were these cool clouds downwind of most ridges and ranges.

Wait, what??? Did I miss you selling the Viking? What do you have now? And you must have more than 500 hours...

Still have the Viking, Kent. It is a bit lonely however, thanks for the reminder to not neglect her. Yes I have more than 500hrs. Trying to max hours in type for the insurance renewal.

So, nothing new? I was thrown off by your "2nd year" insurance renewal comment...
