Pics from flying on Sunday. Couldn't make it to the PoA Great Lakes meetup in Indy on Saturday due to wx, so went up on Sunday and flew around instead. Pics are of the Southwestern Michigan and Northwestern Indiana coastlines.

1) St. Joseph (left of the river) and Benton Harbor (right of the river), MI.

2) Looking out over Lake Michigan from right over the Indiana/Michigan state line.

I think its a 172 or such and if he chooses to do aerobatic work with it, who am I to question it? :D

Nice pics Traveler!

Thanks, I didn't notice when I put them in. I don't know what's up with that. They are straight in my library, and I didn't do anything special when I put them in. Anybody know why they would invert or go in sideways?

These were taken in a 172, but that is a Christen Eagle in my avatar.

You'll probably have to download them to a computer, rotate and then save them.

[]Flying over a 50 mile stretch of clouds on my way to TN..[/QUOTE]

That's a cool but creepy picture. I would be nervous not seeing the ground.
That's just me because I'm a low time VFR Pilot.

I feel totally OK with it. As long as my destination is clear I feel fine. There were also areas to the East and West of me that had pockets I could descend through if needed (while staying legal of course)

I love flying above the clouds.. maybe that's just me??

Not just you... :D

Here's a (bad) picture of my first icing encounter of the '14/'15 winter season from this morning out of ORD. It can only mean one thing: My favorite weather is right around the corner! :goofy:

(You can click the picture for the video of them blowing.)

Took my 11 year old nephew up yesterday on what was actually my longest cross country yet. Flew him from KSET to KIRK to drop him off with one of his aunts (my younger sister) while he waited for his parents to make the same trip by car (I landed back at KSET before they made it to Kirksville).

His mother (my older sister) thinks I got him hooked, which is impressive for a kid who doesn't like heights, roller coasters, or really any amusement park rides. I kept him busy timing our checkpoints and identifying landmarks from the air. The air was fairly smooth while we were cruising at 5500', we had about a 20 knot headwind on the way up. But of course that gave me a 20 knot tailwind on the return trip.

I believe this is the Illinois River just northeast of KSET, he took the picture so I'm not sure

That's so awesome!
He looks like he's having a great time.

You wouldn't know it from talking to him, but he really did have a great time. I don't know if it's an 11-year old boy thing or just my nephew, but our conversations were something like this prior to the flight...

Me: Are you looking forward to it?
Him: Yeah...
Me: Are you excited?
Him: Yeah...

But my sister says he couldn't wait to show her pictures and had a smile on his face whenever she brought it up. I think he's been looking forwad to it ever since he got his Aviation merit badge a couple months ago.

That's funny. I'm like him. I don't really showemotion and I'm a pretty soft spoken person but the passion for aviation is still there. I remember when my parents asked me how my solo was and I just said, "It was good" and nothing else more! The same went for my checkrides. When passed my rides, I was excited but didn't show that I was.

Flew back seat in a T-34 yesterday as part of a 19-ship mass formation over Santa Barbara celebrating Veteran's Day, launching from Camarillo.

Was a great privilege to be a part of such a professionally organized and executed flight, and a great way to honor all those have and continue to serve in our Armed Forces.

Uhhhhh those pics came out pretty big. Oops. My bad.

Guess I'll throw one in

yesterdays Tennessee sunset

Some of these pics need to be bigger as I can actually make out an entire rivet in some of them. Maybe resize before posting so that those of us in the boonies and see too.

Couple from today, a good friend passed his Formation Wingman Checkride - I was shooting from the back seat of the Lead aircraft.
