I was just given my own set of keys to the plane I bought an equity stake in. The keys were give to me on a piece scrap wire. I'm about to order a Piper key chain for them, but thought, these PoA guys and gals probably have some really witty key chain ideas.... Ok ..... GO!

Well, here’s what I use for my Baby Beech, since I can’t fit an F-35 in my hangar.

My airplane key is on my car key ring. This came about after once driving 40 minutes to fly and realizing the plane key was at the house ...

Not intending to hijack the thread...but... my current plane (C210) has a spare key attached on the internal side of an underwing inspection panel. Removing 6 screws gives me access to the key. A clever idea.

When you join the American Navion Society, one of the thigns you get with your membership is a small brass "Navion" key ring. Just about everybody's has a kink in it where it has been shut in the canopy (when you leave the keys in the handle).

A mechanic friend of mine gave me a nice leather one that says "AIRPLANE KEYS."

One of my neighbors with one of these computer controlled laser etcher things has been making key chains with pictures of our planes on it.

I also kept the key an the keychain with home and auto keys, but I used one of the detachable 'valet' keychains with just the aircraft key on one side, and I'd detach it to fly. I'd read that a big ring of keys hanging from the ignition can bounce around enough in turbulence to move the switch off of 'both', potentially even to 'off'.

Great idea ... now. ;)

BTW ... as someone mentioned, I don't hang a bunch of keys from the ignition ...

one of those cheap plastic ones with the paper insert to write your tail number on, so your A&P will know who's keys they are...

My key is on a cheap plastic key tag from a local body shop. I have plenty of key tags that I got from Osh and Sun n fun. Never have thought about it until now. It stays on the glare shield where I can see it from outside the plane to help insure I have the mags off when it's in the hangar.

I installed The Clapper to start mine. The TSO’d one of course.

Back in the late 80s, I had a television set get zapped by lightning. The set still worked fine, but the power switch was permanently fused "ON." The only way to turn the set on and off was to use the power plug.

So, I bought a Clapper and plugged the TV into it.

It worked just fine except for when a show had some loud gunshots or applause, then the darned thing would turn itself off.

My key ring is a promotional item for a romance novel. Figured the hot-pink color would make it easy to find.

I noticed the keys look like file cabinet keys.

The baggage-door lock is a cheapie from the hardware store. I removed one of the internal pins (out of five) and now my ignition key opens the lock.

Back in the spring of '99, I bought a '93 GMC pickup in Anchorage. It came with a remote start, a popular option in Alaska.

When I relocated it to Texas, I would get in with a passenger, push the start button, place the keys on the dash, clap my hands twice and the engine would start.

I am originally from Texas, but I got some really not smart friends...

Is that a shorter than normal embroidered keychain? I like it. Where did you get it?
The thing I don't like about the ones I see at all the pilot shops is they're too long and hand down and interfere w/ the primer/headset jacks in my plane.

I don't know what a 'normal' one looks like but I definitely focused on finding a shorter, stubbier one than a long one. lemme see if I can dig up where I got this from.

I should have checked Amazon
Maybe these "motorcycle" ones on the Amazon fits the bill. 3-ish inches long.
