Howdy, anybody have info regarding installing 3rd back windows in a Comanche 250?
If you mean you have a Comanche 250 with the 2 side windows, and you want to add the 3rd side window, there's only one way to do it: Sell your Comanche 250 and replace it with a Comanche 260B or 260C (which have the 3rd side window).Howdy, anybody have info regarding installing 3rd back windows in a Comanche 250?
I believe Knots 2U offers a STC for the Piper 3rd window but dont recall the specific models.Howdy, anybody have info regarding installing 3rd back windows in a Comanche 250?
This is a 250 with missing logs, so I am trying to get info on how this could have been done to create new logs for it.
337 search. Order the CD from the FAA and see if it’s it there.
FAA CARES allows anyone to log in and view all FAA registration and airworthiness records, as well as download them. Free.
That's for PA28s, not PA24s. Of course, Google AI will tell you that it's for PA24s because they're both Pipers.I believe Knots 2U offers a STC for the Piper 3rd window but dont recall the specific models.
Are you the A&P, potential owner, or current owner? This is a 250 with missing logs, so I am trying to get info on how this could have been done to create new logs for it.

Well, as the A&P IA, I'd say, good work!A&P IA.
Potential owner.

Thanks for this it’s much appreciated, soon as I figure out more info I will revert back and update y’all.Well, as the A&P IA, I'd say, good work!
As the potential owner, I'd say, RUN if you weren't an A&P IA and didn't know what you were in for.
However, if anyone's going to get this bird flying again legally, you're probably it, so I hope you can be successful. Here's a few avenues for that:
1) Talk to @Kristin because she's a Comanche expert and might know something about this.
2) You can, of course, search the STC database - I can tell you I already searched it for current STCs before I wrote my first answer to this thread, even though I was pretty sure one didn't exist, but I didn't look for historical STCs. Honestly, though, I am not finding anything in historical STCs either - I searched on all statuses, PA24 variants (though I did not search based on the TC number), and keyword "Window" and found only the various STCs for single-piece windscreens and 1/4" thick windows.
3) Contact Knots2U - They currently own the STC for doing this to older PA28s; the company that they purchased that previously owned that STC, Isham, may have also had an STC for the PA24 at some point and maybe somebody there knows something about that.
4) Contact Webco Aircraft - They are the owners of a LOT of PA24 STCs and are the company that has done more to support the PA24 than anyone else. They may have an idea...
5) Contact the International Comanche Society.
6) Try posting on the Airworthy Comanche Forum, also run by @Kristin who goes by Krissikins over there. Lots of Comanche discussion there.
Good luck, and let us know what you find out!
I would love to see the approval on that. That involved some major structural work and I question whether it could have been field approved. I am pretty sure that there is no such STC for that. I guarantee that the cost of that work would exceed the cost of upgrading to a B model.
What happens when an STC holder is long gone and dead? No forwarding address?
Does the STC die with them?
There is a specific process for abandoned STCs that can be followed. Same with surrendered STCs. Here is an example of a recent abandoned STC request:What happens when an STC holder is long gone and dead? No forwarding address?
