I predicted they would go up if C182 qualified for MOSAIC. In just the last month, the asking prices have gone crazy.

I don't have data, however I have been following and I would not even call to make an offer or look on these prices. What goes up in aviation, will come down. Better price are ahead and lots more for sale on the way!

Obviously, which is why I said asking prices.
Are you implying that the selling prices have not gone up? Do you have any data on that?

A good indication is how long they are on the market. If they sell quickly, the seller probably got close to his asking price.

If it sits on the market for a long time I would expect it sold for less.

Good time to pick up a legacy 1320lb LSA. Bristells are out of reach, but maybe a CTLSi...

I have an n of 1 with hard data behind it.

182P w/4xGI-275s, 3 axis GFC500, GTN650Xi, and 400 hours on a Skyways overhaul asked/sold for $230K. In July that plane came back on the market at $219K, with owner having bought a 210. P&I were 7 or better.

We bid $205K first and were given an opportunity counteroffer. Plane went to the other bidder at $208K.

Sure. Is there a way to know how quickly they sell?

Maybe. And maybe not. We never got back to pre covid pricing, and I'm not aware of significant factors that would drive prices down today. Even if the real price remained stationary, inflation adjusted dollar amount prices would be higher anyway.

Given that aircraft don't have a high sales velocity, lets see what the data look like in 6 months or a year. My guess - which is nothing but a hunch - is that prices will increase slightly to moderately.

My approach last year when we bought our 182 P? Just buy the thing, fly it, and go have fun.

Data was as of late august/early sept -- don't have exact date on hand -- been too busy to put together new data. Excludes turbo 182s.

Note: when there's a rush of listings that come on the market, you expect to see avg duration drop.
That's not turnover of airplanes selling, that's just a bunch of new listings weighing down the average # of days the collective have been listed.

EDIT: according to my collected data across all aircraft groups tracked (Cessna, Piper, Mooney, Cirrus), avg listing duration has climbed by 43% YoY from 93 days to 133 days. Listing counts by +22% YoY. That's in aggregate across all models tracked.
Of course no warrantee expressed or implied with this data :)

As supply increases (maybe MOSAIC market opportunists), you’d expect prices to drop, if demand stays the same. You’d have to factor out inflation effects. If demand also goes up, say due to MOSAIC pilots, then prices would stay the same as they were or increase, depending on supply/demand. Not easy to figure out. I know I’m not saying anything everyone doesn’t already know.

High wing, sort of want. Trike, hard pass. Be a Chad and get the 180.

The dream would be selling on the October 22 spike from the influx of newly eligible MOSAIC sport pilots and then on July 22 buying from glut of MOSAIC LSA hitting the market.

Are MOSAIC pilots really waiting on the 10/22 date? Might be one reason my ad is getting little to no interest. I had hoped that prices would go up but I'll be happy to break even.

Another factor to consider relative to C182 prices is the insurance aging factor of older pilots in retractable. I believe a lot of them are dropping down to fixed gear 182’s which increases demand along with pilots who have the money to support the crazy high prices from just prior to Covid years.

Where are these cheap 310’s? Asking for a friend

Right here in the classified adds.
"After a thorough valuation from a trusted source, the market dictates that twin-Cessnas aren't commanding what they were in recent years. Amended the asking price to $139,000. Someone's going to get an amazing airframe for a very reasonable price."

Lot of plane for the money.
