OK, just to be clear you can literally log any type of pilot time in your logbook at anytime you want to as long it is not done to meet any of the recency of experience requirements in the FAR's. Let's say it takes you 1 hour to drive to airport and 1/2 hour to preflight, you fly one hour, another 1/2 hour to put aircraft away and then drive home 1 hour. You can literally log the entire time, 4 hours, as flight time as long as it is not done to meet your recency of experience requirement. Hope this helps with your question.
I beg to differ. That in no way shape or form conforms to what 61.51 says you can log.
