i just got a new toy for christmas, an android phone. any recommendations on must have apps for the device?

AirWX - great app for aviation METARs, TAFs, approach plates, etc.

FlightView - if you travel via the airlines, this one is great for tracking flight status, etc.

WingX - avoid this one. Probably great on an iPhone, but the Android version does not support moving maps. Read the fine print on their web site.

IATA/ICAO Dictionary - useful on occation.

Not aviation - but every geek should have it - Tricorder. Need I say any more?

Have fun!

X-Plane Mobile was just released for Android. $9.95 and I love it!

You can even turn on "lift vectors" and see how your ailerons change the lift on your wings in a turn...

Ditto on AirWX. Great app!

The others I use:

Aviation Weather from the aviationweather.gov folks.
Fltplan.com has an app if you use their service.
FlightTools and Aviation Calculations - two decent E6B type replacements plus a bit more.

I've also been experimenting with Avilution's pay-for apps - GPS flight mapping, AFD, etc. - mostly with an eye toward whether I pick up an iPad or Android tablet this spring.

Not necessarily Android-specific but there are multiple versions of the AIM and FARs at good prices, some of them Kindle-compatible (there is a Kindle for Android app)
