Another Logging Question

Sorry I searched and I couldn't find it...

Flying IFR flight tomorrow with a friend who is PPL. Never flown with anyone who is a pilot before. How is this time logged?

If we split the flying duties let's say 1 hour each. i log 1.0 hour PIC and 1.0 as SIC or just don't log it at all?

Also can we even split time since we are on IFR flight even though it's VMC?

Assuming you're in a plane that can be flown by a single pilot, you can't log SIC since you're not a required crewmember.

You're flying IFR. Great time for practice.

You fly half the way under the hood. You log that time as PIC, friend logs it as Safety Pilot. Then switch - wash, rinse, repeat.

Heck, you can even fly the approach under the hood and have it count to your six in six.

Maybe. Depends who is qualified to and acting as PIC.
