Alaska

Hello
I did make the trip. The weather was not great but overall a great experience!
I took off from Maine cross country above the Great Lakes to Bellingham WA. Then up the coast to Ketchikan , Sitka and then to Merrill Field in Anchorage.
Congrats! Pictures please!

Did you see the bears on the ground? Very cool. We didn’t see much wildlife in Alaska, was kind of hoping to and not hoping to. Awesome pics

Yes! In Barrow. Guy with an Excursion drove a group of us just out of town.

Flew the plane. Seattle -> Juneau -> Fairbanks -> Barrow. Down through the Bering strait on the way back (saw Russia) then Nome and back to Anchorage.
How did the electronics work?

Sorry, specifically the navigation. I never got a definitive response from Garmin
I experienced no issues. The lat/lon range we were in is shown to “work” in the G3000 manual.

We went as far north as 71 deg.

Hello
I am planning to fly my 182 from Maine to Alaska in July of this year. I need to fly the coast because as I understand it Canada does not accept special issuance for medical. Any tips would be appreciated
Nice!

One other thing I’d add - it seems like (outside of Anchorage) Alaska has one controller that works half of the state with a myriad of frequencies at once. I often got “here are a couple frequencies to try if/when I lose you…” and “this frequency has been down for a couple months, try me on xxx.xxx after another 100 miles”.

It’s always comforting to be “no comms” in northern Alaska at FL250!
