I may have to quit airline travel altogether if these take off. I see their point, save some walking. Maybe ok for disabled people but for fully functional people? Imagine 5000 of these bombing around the airport, knocking people down, tumbling down escalators. Probably need insurance and registration eventually. Will that battery be allowed in airplanes?

oh, and no the girl at 0:15 is not wearing pants, but that is not what this is about.

It will "take off" in the same way that Segways did, and for the same reasons.

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

At a projected retail price of $1500 a pop ($995 if you donate to the second Kickstarter campaign, the first having failed) I don't think I'll see a lot of those beauties around the terminal.

Cheers

Drag bags are sissy enough. Now they've got these?

Not stated is how the Brigade of Blue Hands are going to react seeing that battery and motor on the x-ray machine monitor.

Could it serve double duty as a aircraft tug for my Cessna?

What is the useful load? Does it have a reverse gear so the fat gelatinous users can remove themselves from the soda machine? How about a wheelie bar so they don't flip over when trying to go up the escalator with it? Is there plans for an off road version for use at turf and backcountry strips?

Yes, you just have to buy the version with tundra tires!

With the larger tires is the useful load decreased? Will it then need a roll bar for use on uneven surface use ? What about a tandem seater for two lazy people? Or how about a family version where you can hitch up three or four units behind so the precious kids dont have to walk? Will pregnant women be able to use it? What about a low profile version for dwarfs?

At $1500, only the privileged few will be buying them and they mostly fly private aircraft or ride first class. And anyone in first class hardly ever has to walk through the airport with us peons.
But I can see the riders wanting horns, bells, or whistles on them. Running over people who refuse to get out of the way like they do for airport shuttles now.
It's probably time to carry a big heavy walking stick.

I love the way they lean into the turns, and one adventurous woman in knee high boots actually drug her foot through the curve! :D Should be quite interesting the first time someone runs over a child or falls off and hurts themselves. . .

It will be interesting seeing people try to lift them into the overhead compartments. They can't be light.

Exactly what people said about horseless carriages.....:)

I might be wrong but I expect the dork factor will mean these won't take off.

The way my wife packs this will never fly. Literally.

You bastard. I viewed the first 20 seconds of the video like 6 times. There was no pantsless female... unless you're talking about the one wearing shorts. Which DEFINITELY didn't count.
