Airline, Captain Alcoholic Addiction Squealer.

Not the in-flight version (I think that one is saved in the blackmail folder on my other laptop), but this one might be fun to pass around....

Yep, it was on my other laptop. Am I only allowed to receive a pro rata share of blackmail, with the rest going to the other POA members?

Airlines, Captain smells of Alcohol does the first officer squeal and turn him in as soon as he sees it, how about flight attendants. If the first officer does turn in the Captain is his career over, will any other captain ever fly with him again or hold him as a squealer and end his flying with that airline, or flight attendants who squealed what happens to them or any other airline person. How about flight schools, another CFI or part 135 pilot, do you squeal and take what comes after, or just keep to yourself and hope he or she does not kill themselves or others, or are you part of the problem.

Would you get in a car with a person that is intoxicated?

This isn’t even really a conversation for a non-professional flight crew forum.

Much like not tolerating video game players (“simmers”) who try to tell real pilots how to fly real planes, private pilots shouldn’t be pontificating as to how airline pilots do their jobs. We non-121s mostly don’t know what we don’t know.
As a non 121 pilot, I still know I don’t want a drunk pilot responsible for my flight.

a) Would you want to be a passenger on a plane with a drunk pilot? How does your being in the cockpit change that?

b) Would you want your family on a plane with a drunk pilot?

Deal with it, but do not let a drunk person fly as required crew on any aircraft.

or just keep to yourself and hope he or she does not kill themselves or others, or are you part of the problem.

Every time I come across a question like this I always lament... if you have to ask, then it is not the right thing...

Oh! Tell you friend (wink wink) to get help.

This seems to be Airline only response, how about Part 135 they fly passengers too or Part 141/61 CFI. As a ramp rat do you say something or not if you value your job.

If you see, hear or smell something, say something. All of those operations except 61 has someone in charge.

That's easy to say but 135 operations are small and if you squeal people will know who did, for one reason or another squealers don't last long.

Alternative view: the people worth knowing will respect you for having the moral courage to step up and prevent something bad from happening. The people who go around calling others squealers and snitches are not worth knowing.

There’s no stigma speaking up. You simply can’t let it happen.

However, the whole notion of union “help”, professional standards doing anything, or the fact they get conscripted into hims actually helps… is flawed.

You can’t let it happen, but don’t be fooled into thinking you’re helping them, that fact you’re likely not helping them just ain’t your fault.

Helping them is a structured approach to professional EXPERT help. Hims is not that.

That being said, how you not let it happen is up to you.
