Wow, beat it by a week. Just installed mine last week and complete my performance flight. Got an email from the FAA saying my rebate was approved so I hope that means I’m getting it.

A friend's shop finished his GDL82 install yesterday and I saw his N# in flight for the first time as he flew it home from annual. We were talking about it and both agreed I should reserve my rebate. Now I guess there's no particular rush to get it installed so long as it's done prior to 12/31.

Hopefully your avionics shop has available install time between now and the end of the year. Dont wait too long. Installers in my area were quite busy 12 months ago when I started my install. I was lucky to get it done in a couple of months.

I’m not surprised. When I was getting mine done in March they only had 4,000 rebates left. I got an approval email saying to expect the check in four to six weeks. I heard nothing for eight weeks and followed up last week. They said they would send a check within two weeks. I wouldn’t want to bet that I will receive it.

When I was working on it, they were stating that the rebates would be available until a certain date, October I think, or when they were used up whichever came first. Sounds like the “used up” came first.

I THINK that when they started the program a few years ago and then withdrew it, they thought people were equipping at a fast enough rate. When the rate slowed down, they put the program in place again with the remainder of the budgeted funds. They are beauracrats though, so who knows what their theory really is.

Frack. I had mine reserved but haven't had the shop time to finish, so it expired.

The first round never filled up, so I figured it wouldn't this time either. dag nabbit.

Update: This morning at 6:45 ET the page was saying rebates are available again. I successfully registered for a rebate so maybe they were just testing over the weekend or they are doing a rolling registration with the ones that expire, who knows.

Just checked again and it says no longer available...?? Might be worth periodically checking back to see if any slots have opened back up.

That’s pretty annoying. I had to send my upgraded transponder back after it failed on the r3bate flight and it hasn’t come back yet.

I'm one of those "rich" multi owners, so it's not available to us...

Never mind that my previous Bonanza cost almost twice what I paid for the TA...

More like the Feds baited and switched, what they have no idea how many airplanes had to be done? and what the wait to install is? Poor planning for sure and actually unfair to many owners, there should have been enough rebates for all installs, those not done by 12-31-2019. or purchased and not installed but have a date to install, now that would have been fair. But then who says anything gov is fair

They want the equipment installed in the name of safety, yet with thousands of airplanes not done, run out, I call BS meter pegged.
I wonder how many airplanes will not get done now, as this was not exactly cheap to do.

Here is the latest from FAA rebate website. There is still hope! The last rebate was claimed as of today - may have been me, anyone here claim one after 6:45 AM this morning?

"On May 13, 2019, the last of these rebates was reserved. However, you may still be able to reserve a rebate. Some rebates are returned or expire. Each week from now until October 2019, we will make these returned and expired rebates available. Check back here each Wednesday at 1 pm ET to see if any rebates have become available. These additional rebates are in short supply and we expect they will go quickly each week."

Love ADS-B. Would seriously not want to go back to the past. Got a GTX-345 for IN/OUT and never regretted it for minute.

The intent of the rebate was to speed up ADS-B compliance by enticing owners with a rebate. The intent was never to give every owner $500 no matter how long they waited.

Yep. Snooze and you lose. I did my 150 early this year. There was plenty of time for those who knew they would need it and decided to wait.

Really useful. I only glance at my ADSB-in (like my other instruments), and it actually has me scanning MORE for traffic than before...it’s like a game. Plus, I’m improving in my ability to spot traffic, just cuz I’m doing it more.
