A 525HP Murphy Moose on floats

    The thing sounds like a dragster. Murphy makes great kits, is just a shame that it hasn't found his sweet spot

    The cam lope actually reminds me a lot of the sound of a marine engine, like a Mercury 525 (Blue Motor) or Mercruiser 496. That Murphy Moose is awesome and would be a blast to pond hop with.

    floats make even smaller planes seem "Ginormous". That was fun to watch.

    Agree. Moose's also looks gorgeous with the M-14P engine

    What a turd. The performance in that video is shockingly bad. I have a buddy with a Moose on floats that’s the best performing recip floatplane I’ve seen. This Moose is sucking hind tit.

    The floats are too small. The CG is too far forward.

    How can I tell? The tips of the floats keep dipping into the water. He even admits he needs ballast.

    That'd do a lot to fix the anemic take off. Then again, I don't believe it's making the full 525hp.
