Believe it or not it has already been almost a year since our last fundraiser to help cover the cost associated with site upkeep and maintenance.

As some of you know, Pilots of America periodically runs a fundraiser to gather donations to support the upkeep of the site and the expenses that come along with it. We are now going to open up a fundraising period again, and we would like to kindly ask that you consider donating to help fund the operation of Pilots of America. The costs for our web-hosting services have continued to increase and thus, we are in need of replenishing the fund balance.

As a little background, Pilots of America is a nonprofit organization. We are not a 501(c)3, but rather a state registered nonprofit. As such, none of us (moderators and technical administrators) receive any money for the work done with the site. It costs us several hundred dollars per month for the AWS resources necessary to keep the site running and backed up. Plus, we have to pay for domain registration, software/plugin updates for necessary and requested features, etc. The fee’s add up, and the cost for such has continued to increase, along with everything else!

We would like to, once again, raise enough money to keep everything running for another year or so, but to do this, we need YOUR help!

As a token of appreciation for your generosity, you will receive a fancy ‘PoA Supporter’ badge next to your name like mine. If you already have one, than making a donation will extend the time effectiveness of it and further your commitment to keep PoA alive and well!

Our end goal, as always, is to make Pilots of America a great resource for pilots (and aviation enthusiasts in general) for generations to come, and by making a donation, you’re helping to ensure that becomes a reality!

If you'd like to donate an amount more (or less) than those listed, feel free to send me a PM and I’ll be happy to work with you. You can also purchase more than one of the levels, if you desire!

The donation options can be found here - https://www.pilotsofamerica.com/community/account/upgrades

Thank you! :)

gave option to pay with PayPal or pay with credit card. I selected credit card and it took me right back to PayPal

On a serious note, I'm trying to buy the year extension "Upgrade", but there is no "PURCHSE" tab as there is with the other option.

It

I believe you enter your credit card number thru the PayPal payment portal.

Done. And yes, you enter your credit card through PayPal.

What’s it need my email for. On the first page under PayPal it says enter email. Then it says OR pay with credit card and it wants my email

I have a PayPal account. The email is for sending your receipt if you make a payment. It's also used for payments to me. If you want to phony up one, I suppose it will just send the receipt there but really have no clue what will happen.

It appears I do have a PayPal account I’ve obviously forgotten about when I entered an email. So I tried it again with my ‘burner’ email. It makes you create a PayPal account. So the PayPal OR credit card is not quite true. You gotta use PayPal.

I would read the terms/conditions very carefully:

The money raised via this page will be used 100% to offset the costs of operating the site PilotsOfAmerica.com. Those costs will include hosting/server costs, domain registration and purchases of software necessary to run the site.

None of the money raised here will ever be used to pay for time/labor for the site maintainer or any member of the PoA MC.

Free beer for everyone.

Please note that donations given are accepted with extreme gratitude. No goods or services are guaranteed in return for these donations. Giving a donation does not guarantee ongoing access to the board should the donor violate the site Rules of Conduct nor buy you any special favor with the MC.

DISCLAIMER: PilotsOfAmerica is a nonprofit organization registered in the state of Pennsylvania but IS NOT a registered 501(c)3. As such, we do not expect this donation to be tax deductible. Please consult with your tax advisor if you feel otherwise.

If you show up at NC26, I'll give you a free beer (or bourbon or wine if you perfer).

Two requests, if you are a non-profit, what state and what is the non-profit name so I can look up your annual filing.

Also add Zelle.

What's the price for the incognito tier? I wouldn't want to ruin my reputation as the board's resident cheapskate by getting one of those banners under my name...:biggrin:
We don’t shame ya! Anything helps! :)

Pennsylvania.

What about CashApp or Venmo?

That means you'll have to put up with us for at least 8 hours. You know that saying about houseguests being like fish? When the houseguests come from POA, I think the equivalent fish is surströmming.

ETA: I don't want to miss my annual chance to post this video, but I don't want to burn up a whole new post for it seeing as POA is broke and we can't afford to be wasting posts like that...

What about selling "Pilots of the POA Swimsuit Calendars"?
The machinist mates on a ship I was on made up their own calendar to raise money for ... something. I don't remember what. Probably beer. I found it a couple of months ago.
The January photo is my favorite.
Yes, that is a mop head for hair.
