SE Planes with an air stair or rear door

Cessna Caravan comes to mind. DeHavilland Beaver. No airstair but the Piper the Piper Cherokee Six/Lance/Saratoga/6X family have rear doors. Cessna 206/207 (though not that easy to climb into...) You were probably looking for low wings mostly I imagine...

    Largest Glacier Ice Calving Recorded

Yeah, screw the old people, the ones who have been here long enough to know that in fact nothing significant has changed, the wise ones who have seen a long period of time go by on the earth. Ignore them, concentrate on brainwashing the young and impressionable. Yell them the old are wrong and...

    An observation, and a question.

Guess I am in the minority with ThreeFingeredJack and Wayne, I'll pass 9K this winter. Almost all of it in Alaska 135.

    Is This Dad a Jerk?

Yes, he is a jerk, but only because he screwed that dog out of his snack. That's life, and death. A good lesson for the kids indeed. At least he didn't punish the dog for doing its job.

    Bad Experience in a 172.

Guys like the OPs friend are one major reason many people are scared of "small" planes. Shameful to treat someone like that on an intro ride. And if he were truly doing an emer descent in a steep bank as described, there should be no g-load, since you are descending in an unloaded condition...

    Great Pictures

Yeah, they do that if the cloud penetrated was below the plane... I'm not saying it is not photoshop, just clarifying that the wake as depicted is appropriate. It would be nice to see a higher resolution image. Very pretty nonetheless.

    Helicopter Tour Safety?

Up here at my airport alone (PAJN) there are four helicopter tour operators. A couple of them work year 'round serving remote sites but all of them are extremely busy during the summer. While some of the pilots are building time, most are very qualified and often ex-military helo pilots that...

    Old airlines, the old ways

Alaska Airlines still gives out wings. Pretty nice ones too, not the cheap plastic ones. They gave me a pair last year when I was jumpseating... :)

    Duchess RPM fluctuation

Amen, Southeast Alaska here and I have basically the same plane you do. If all else fails stay over the blue stuff on the GPS, at least you know how high the water is... BTW, my tachs don't exactly match up either :)

Turned Down money and Multi Time yesterday

Without seeing the plane, I'd have to agree that you made the right call and it is a shame that those great planes are sometimes left to rot. The clicking starter was probably a stuck Bendix caused by the dead battery, no big deal. The paint? probably not a problem. The rust though is a red...
