Pork brains in milk gravy, anyone?

Bill, I've made Souse meat before. it was from my Grandad's recipe. It's a pain to make, but better than most would think. I'm only 38, but I was raised up on a Georgia farm and yes I know all about hog killins' and such. No, I draw the line at chittlin's and hog brains:P, although my Dad and...

March Doesn't Come In Like a Lion...

Yeah, I can imagine it does suck. I'm going out to my co-workers home later today and assist in the clean-up. Your original post was right,March did come in like a bastard. Stan

March Doesn't Come In Like a Lion...

:( Cheer up Ed!! It could be worse. A Co-worker of mine who lives NW of Macon GA. called me about 6:15 PM to tell me he wasn't coming to work tomorrow. His home got nailed by a tornado. He guessed approx. $ 50-60,000 in damages. Luckily, he and his family took refuge in the basementand survived...

A positive GA news story (X-posted on AOPA)

I was checking on updates about an Army MH-47 spec-op Helo crash in SW Georgia and came across this news story. I think this reporter and pilot did a pretty good job of putting GA in a positive light. Here's the link: http://www.walb.com/Global/story.asp?S=4981708 You can also get info about...

** Where are you on the Political Compass? **

This is a hoot. I always thought I was right-wing conservative. My score is: Economic: -4.00, Authoritarian, Libertarian: + 5.28. AACK!!! I'm in the area of Joseph Stalin!!! I need some reeducation I guess.

Finally got my first actual IMC

Dave, I asked him if he wanted to do the landing. The wind was 9 (more like 13 or14) gusting to 21 kts at almost a 90 deg. X-wind. I was getting tired and I asked him if he wanted to do the landing. That's almost beyond my capabilities (the x-wind). If I was solo, I would have attempted the...

Finally got my first actual IMC

 I finally got a good day to get my first actual. I didn't know if I would get to go today or not. Ceilings were really low this morning at Robins AFB. And our aero club rules say you have to have circling minimums just to take off. I met my instructor at 1:00 pm and we decided to go...

    Pretty good IR training day

I had a better day today than last week. Other than fighting the turbulence (it was bumpy), the flight went well. I did more of the usual turns (timed & compass), turning climbs and descents, 2 inst. T/O's and steep turns. My steep turns went a lot better today. Henning's idea of trimming helped...

    Bad IR training day

Yes, this was a day when my head was definitely not in the game. About the steep turns at this point, my CFII had discussed my performance so far with the Chief flight inst. We have pretty much covered everything in the syllabus up to lesson 10 and the manuevers have been within PTS limits and...

    Bad IR training day

Nope, these were full 360deg., 45deg bank turns. Just like the steep turns in my PPL. Yes, they were done under the hood. Heck, the only time I wasn't under the hood today was when we had to circle for traffic back at the base and then the landing. The aero club has areas assigned by the Tower...

    Bad IR training day

It's in our 141 syllabus, but now that you mention it, I can't find anything in the PTS for steep turns. Are they no longer required?

    Bad IR training day

That it was. Better to have those days with a CFII along in IMC. I learned one important rule today. Know when to admit I'm not up to flying. If I would have been just flying VFR, it would have been a great day. Beautiful weather, not a cloud in sight and not much haze. But all through the...

    Bad IR training day

Well, after 6 flights, I finally had a bad, bad flight. My day was already lousy. I showed up after work at the base aero club with more fuel on me than the Warrior could hold ( I work on C-130's at Robins AFB ). I live over an hour away, so going home to change was out of the question. I asked...

So, no one is getting their IR?

Ben, I started my IR Dec. 28 as a Christmas gift to myself. I've finished 5 flights so far and I'm enjoying the flying. I've performed a lot better than I thought I would. If only the wrtten portion was as "easy"for me as the flying. That's alot of stuff to remember:eek: . I've taken some...

    Foggles

I've just started my inst. rating (2nd lesson) and I received a pair of foggles for Christmas. I used them for the first time yesterday and they are much better than the old ASA hood my Aero club uses. The problem with the foggles I found was that I could cheat a little, espcially when looking...

    AFB Ramp Space

I can't quote the exact years, but Grissom, aka. Bunker Hill, AFB also operated B-58 Hustlers. I know a guy that was stationed there in the machine shop.

    2005 Flight Hours.

Re: 2005 Flight Hours. Not Enough I managed to get in around 20 hrs. this year. That included my ppl checkride back in March. I need a reason to get in more flying next year, so I started my Inst. rating last week. Maybe the crummy summer haze and morning fog won't keep me grounded this year:D .

    Mayor snaps. Calls out president

Instead of arresting this kid, they should have refueled the bus and asked him to make some more trips. He deserves a big congratulations and kudos. I'm surprised the media hasn't jumped all over this.
