    Michigan TFR violation???

Several people have told me they heard reference to an intercept (aircraft) that occurred during the President's recent visit to Auburn Hills, including firing of flares or tracers. I also heard a brief mention of this during one of the traffic reports that afternoon. But nothing since. Does...

    Michigan TFR

http://www.aopa.org/whatsnew/notams.html#6/2043 Coming Monday to the southeastern Michigan area. Not exactly sure where the center is; no doubt someone will help with that... I noticed PTK, D95 and numerous others are within the 30 mi. radius.

    What would you do?

You are flying along in... well... let's say an older 172. You encounter wake turbulence strong enough that you roll about 80 degrees before you even know what's happening. Do you: a.) go with it, roll the rest of the way around? b.) Fight it, try to roll back to level? Never happened to...

At first I heard both of then, but after the student made a traffic call it was all instructor. After a few trips around the pattern the...

    First Solo!

Not mine, that was 12 years ago. My oldest son soloed today, just after his 16th birthday. The instructor told him "do three for me, then as many as you want after that". I lost count at six landings. He now has more solo time in the plane than he does in his truck.

Cessna lands on freeway near Detroit

Not much detail, but I heard on the traffic report they had I-75 closed for awhile this afternoon to remove the airplane from the southbound lanes; pilot was on the cellphone immediately after landing. They loaded the plane onto a flatbed.

How to install Carpet in C172

I purchased a new carpet set for my '58 172. Does anyone know how you're supposed to stick the carpet to the floor? How about the center hump? The old carpet was stuck down with household flooring adhesive (the carpet was '70s shag) and it took hours to remove all the adhesive. I was thinking...
