    forward slips - eeeeeeeeeeeee!

I'm amazed--- it took 28 posts before the 'C172 "no slips with flaps" canard' dropped out of the blue. In the past this would have been in one of the first five posts!!!

Questions to ask during CFI interview(s)

I would (will) ask for the names of two or three students that have completed the rating/certificate that I am going to train for. I would like to contact these former/current students to assess the CFI's methods, punctuality, reliability and general reputation.

    Air Wilmington at ILM

Why is it "too far to go VFR only"? I have flown "VFR only" from Seattle to Dallas without a problem. KAID > KILM is 560 NM via Victor airways. It should only be one ot two stops in a 182. Just plan the flight and fly the plan.

Making an alteration to my cowl.

If your baffles are correctly installed, the air is forced through the cooling fins around the cylinders and then goes out the bottom of the engine compartment. There should be very little air "hitting" the firewall.

Buying a Fabric and Tube Airplane

I LOVED my Tripacer. It was a 1955 PA22-150. It had been covered with Ceconite (sp) about 15 years before I purchased the airplane. In 3 annuals, we did not find any problems, but my A&P/IA was concerned that recovering would be necessary to assure that the unreachable parts of the tubing were...

Sale of port rights to UAE?

I think a lot of folks bit on it! A case of FIRE, READY, AIM.

Sale of port rights to UAE?

I agree. This has exposed the real "tolerance" the disdain some of our political operatives have for other cultures, and their real lack of support for world trade. There is NO US company that has the expertise and willingness to even bid on the port management business.

    where's TODAYS POSTS gone?

I think "Today's Posts" goes away and is replaced with "New Posts" when you are logged in. When I do a "drive by" look at the board it shows "Today's Posts" as an option, but not "New Posts."

How much time to remain proficient?

I try to fly a minimum of 1+ hours once a week, including at least three landings. I have my own plane, so I can even do it at night if it's more convenient. {edit after reading Ron's post.} However, I like Ron's methodology of a more structured approach to maintaninig currency. I think the...
