    Aircraft Maintenance Logbook Stickers?

What are people (i.e. A&Ps, avionics shops, etc) using to generate the nice typed logbook stickers? I did a Google search and Rons Aircraft Maintenance Log Entry Creator comes up. 30 day free trial, not sure what it costs after that. Thanks.

uAvionix skyBeacon Installed - Cherokee 140

Don't have much to say as I haven't actually tested it out yet, but had this installed yesterday. Configured on the app on my iPhone, which was very easy and smooth - really didn't have to do much. I suspect the little fin will reduce wing tip vortices by ~25% and give us another 20 knots.

    AGI & IGI

I've completed my FOI, CFI, CFII written exams (did well on them - 98%, 100%, 98%). I originally wasn't planning on getting my AGI & IGI, but I've decided I'd like to do them. I probably should have done the AGI with the CFI written and the IGI with the CFII. How different are the AGI/IGI...

    DC One-X or Zulu 3s

Purchasing a headset for my wife/passengers and was originally thinking I would get the Zulu 3s for her. I have Bose A20s myself, but don't want to spend the money on them. The DC One-X's seem to have really good reviews. How is the ANR between the One-X and the Zulu 3s? I know comfort wise the...

    CFI - Power Off 180s - Cherokee 140

Starting to fly my Cherokee 140 from the right seat to prepare for the CFI checkride. I did my Commercial in the 172, which glides forever when doing the Power Off 180 - my Cherokee is quite the opposite. My first few times I was way short - I kept the pattern tighter and kept the downwind...

CFI - Do it in my Cherokee or 172?

So I am trying to determine whether or not to do the CFI (and potentially CFII) in my Cherokee 140 or at a flight school with a 172. Maybe I am overthinking it, but I'm thinking it might be best to do the training in a 172, since that will likely be the plane that I will be CFI'ing in (if I go...

    Commercial Multi Checkride Passed!

Passed my CMEL checkride today! I did it over the course of 4 days (about 2.0-2.3 hrs of flying each day). I had a really tough instructor (retired DPE), but he prepared me very well for the checkride. I have to admit, after the second day I was so overwhelmed I thought there was no way I would...

CMEL - 80% loss of performance when losing an engine

I plan to talk to my CFI about this more, but I was reading about how a loss of an engine equates to about a ~80% decrease in performance. So you've lost 50% of your power, but about 80% of your performance. Here is my layman explanation of why that is. Let me know if this is completely wrong...

FOI/CFI/CFII - King or Sheppard Air?

I've always used King with good results and I do prefer to learn the material rather than just rote memorization. That said, King is $558. Sheppard Air is $125. Any feedback? Worth spending the extra cash on the King courses?

    Favorite VFR Nav Log?

Always used the Jeppesen one, but it only has 9 lines, which is fine for shorter cross countries, but not good for anything longer. I came across this one, which is Excel based (I really like that it is Excel based)...

Flow + Checklist or just Checklist?

Just curious to hear what people do regarding simulated emergency descents/engine fires/engine failure. Do you do a flow and then backup with the checklist or do you just go straight to the checklist? For the DPEs out there, what method do you prefer to see?

    Controllability vs Maneuverability?

The definitions in the PHAK are somewhat confusing to me. I understand controllability, but I am having a difficult time explaining maneuverability in laymans terms. PHAK definitions: Maneuverability—the quality of an aircraft that permits it to be maneuvered easily and to withstand the...

    CG vs Center of Pressure?

Been reading Chapter 5 of the PHAK and making notes...but I have a question about stability in regards to CG vs. Center of Pressure. So as CG moves forward, stability increases (although performance decreases across the board due to flying at a higher AOA). If CG moves rearward, stability...

    91.213 - Equipment List - Static Wicks - C172S

Studying up on 91.213. Was curious as to whether or not static wicks were required. It's not listed in the Kinds of Operations Equipment List, not required by 91.205, not required by an AD, and I couldn't find anything in the TCDS about it either. However, it does show up on the Equipment List...

    First Actual IMC!

I got my Instrument Rating back in April, but unfortunately never got any actual IMC. I basically vowed to not fly actual IMC until I had done it with an instructor, even though I had my IR. Well today my buddy @Walboy invited me down to KCGZ to fly in his Cherokee 180 as the weather was...
