Why no red zone below the stall speed on the ASI?

Not my picture. Read back in the thread. The raster is unnecessary in a light GA aircraft and as I said TO ME it takes away from the joy of feeling the aircraft and enjoying the aircraft. Children of the Magenta.

Why no red zone below the stall speed on the ASI?

I just don't get it I guess. Fly by feel or fly by toys. I prefer feel in a GA aircraft. Otherwise it's not enjoyable to me. Not saying you're wrong. It's just not my cup of tea.

How to search for a "Direct To" instruction fix

[Larry King Voice] Seal Beach...Hello [/Larry King Voice] I agree with the Right Said EdFred guy. You should be able to find that on the sectional in seconds. That being said. Ask for a vector and identifier if you need it. ATC can and will give you the info you need.

Which aircraft is better to learn with?

Most students find the Pipers to be a bit easier to land and control on the ground. I learned in a raggedy old 172 and it got the job done. I think you'll be fine with any of the entry level aircraft.

Question e Knowledge Test - Determining Distance on En Route Chart

Is the AFD for PDX one of the supplements available? Those usually tell you distances to nearby Navaids. If I remember right. An arrival chart will also give that info.

Local news story on the "pilot shortage"

Yeah its tough sometimes. The shortage isn't at the CFI level. It's those with the ATP minimums. So many CFIs will be staying longer.
