    Written test question bank?

Thanks all. Went ahead and picked up ASA's 2013 prep book and their android app to study on the fly. Going to put it to use with all my commercial flights I have coming up soon for work. Oh how I love airport terminals

    Control Tower Closure Info

Looks like letters were sent out for towers that are intended to be shutdown. Ryan (KRYN) is on the chopping block according to this article; http://azstarnet.com/business/local/faa-closer-to-shutting-tower-at-ryan-field/article_6e628f52-8f1e-5617-8bca-eaf7f868785d.html Apparently a tower...

    Written test question bank?

My Google-fu is failing me today. I have found numerous references to a test bank of 400+ questions on the FAA written exam but per the FAA website the private pilot test bank is only 102 questions, with 60 of those being randomly chosen for the test. See here -...

PHAK, AIM, and CFR enough for PPL test

Keep an eye out on Amazon under the used sales listings for the second edition. Snagged mine through there with Textbooks.com as the re-seller. Hard bound, used but no writing or wear to speak of for $20.

    Control Tower Closure Info

I live up by KAVQ (Marana Regional) but take the drive to Ryan for my flight lessons. The day I went out to KAVQ to interview a CFI it looked like an accident waiting to happen with pilots seemingly doing whatever they wanted. Instructor down at Ryan said they were supposed to put a tower...

PHAK, AIM, and CFR enough for PPL test

I know I've gone into overkill mode but I was searching for a format that "clicked" with my learning and study style. Ended up with the following. I have Bob Gardner's Complete Private Pilot and Say Again Please, Rod Machado's Private Pilot Handbook, the Airplane Flying Handbook and Pilots...

    Control Tower Closure Info

Is there somewhere to check to see the status of each of these towers? Tucson's only Class D (rest is Class C or un-towered) KRYN is on the list and I'm curious as to if its going to be shutdown.

    GO PRO Cameras

It's not a GoPro but I use a Contour Roam that I bought off Amazon for $110 a few weeks ago and a Panavise suction cup mount for it. In the 172 I put it on my left at the top right hand corner of the door. When I have it set to 1080P it records the entire panel plus gives me an outside view...

    Glass, or Steam?

Just wanted to back this statement up. I just started flight school and the sim's really do not do the real thing justice. For example, in FSX, full realism mode, with one of the most popular Cessna 172 payware packages out there, there is an extreme difference between how the rudder reacts...

Value ANR - Anyone with Victor 1 ANR Experience?

Very true, just had my second lesson though so going to be a little while before I go flying off to Phoenix. Could drive, but wheres the fun in that? ;) I have been asking around at the school and apparently there are no brick and mortar pilot shops in Tucson period for whatever reason.

Value ANR - Anyone with Victor 1 ANR Experience?

Will be my first headset. Plan is to buy something lower end now and eventually upgrade later on after I get some time under my belt. This set would work it's way down to my wife or daughter as I am going to need 3 headsets when all is said and done. Thought about going that route with a set...

Value ANR - Anyone with Victor 1 ANR Experience?

Not to keen on having the in ear style of headset. Earbuds, foam earplugs, etc all bug me after awhile. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Value ANR - Anyone with Victor 1 ANR Experience?

Just wondering if anyone here has used the Victor 1 ANR headsets from Tina's Pilot shop? I found a short blurb in a thread from last year but I am having trouble finding a detailed review on them. Has anyone had any experience with these? Claims to be produced by Lightspeed just for them and...

Sectionals, is there a difference between vendors?

Tried searching but did not see any threads pop up. Is there a difference in sectional chart vendors printing quality? For instance in Rod's book I have no issue differentiating between the various airspace colors and what not but in Bob's samples in the back of his books they tend to run...

Question for the CFI's in regards to student supplies

Thanks for the input. I already plan to ask for a more detailed list during my lesson on Wednesday but as I mentioned I was curious and trying to plan out the best sources for items when the time comes.

Question for the CFI's in regards to student supplies

So true but I do not mind since I get to fly. :D

Question for the CFI's in regards to student supplies

Thanks again Doc :) While I was checking out flight schools a few weeks ago I asked each of their book recommendations. CFI I chosen had that one on the list so I have a copy on the way, the others above happened to get here first so I started with them.

Question for the CFI's in regards to student supplies

Well, 20 years after being told I could never be a pilot due to failing an Ishihara at a young age, a chance meeting with a new coworker, and a dizzying last month, I now have my license to learn. Passed my 3rd class medical with no color vision restrictions but have an SI due to my thyroid. FAA...

Future Student - Flight Frequency Advice Needed

Ryan Field (KRYN) just west of Tucson unless I decide to change CFI's due to the above mentioned sketchyness in some email correspondence. On that note if anyone knows a good flight school or private CFI in the area let me know.
