    Sun and Fun 2018 (Weather)

Had a great time at Sun n Fun, looked pretty well supported but we’ve seen it busier. Lots of guys began to leave on Saturday to beat the bad weather coming through on Sunday. And it was the right call to close the event at lunch time on Sunday. Had one little incident which made my wife and me...

    Pre flight

Personally I always do a full preflight using the check sheet, even after a short hop for a $100 hamburger run ill go through the routine again before launching for the return trip home. Maybe because I'm still a newbie I edge more on the cautious side than I need too be, but its a habit I'm...

Stupid Question: Is it okay to be Facebook friends with your CFI?

Cedar Key is a great place to drop in for lunch, only a 2000ft runway to play with, so needs a bit of care when gusts coming in off the Gulf. Call your pattern approach and Judy the local taxi driver will call you back and ask if you need a ride into town.. Made our first trip there in...

    Where to fly in Florida?

Well ticked another box off my places to visit in Florida after getting a low pass approval over the Shuttle Landing Facility. NASA tower guy was very helpful..gave me clearance for minimum 100ft pass and kept me safe with a watchful eye on Helicopter Traffic around Kennedy Space Centre.

    First time taking a passenger

Enjoy the experience of flying with your Son.I am envious of you, my 44 yr old Son is totally against my flying activities, he believes all small aircraft are always just minutes from falling out of the sky...He reluctantly flys commercial if he needs to get somewhere, but the slightest bit of...

    Gift for CFI?

I had just one CFI for all my PP training, he wasn't freelance and worked full time for the flight school, their cost to me for his services was $60hr. Never asked what his cut was but I'm sure it wasn't anything close to the $60. Anyway's he did a fine job for me, as a mature student (63 at...
