    Why I fly

I try to forget all about flying but like an addiction I come back and end up watchinga video like yours. I miss it. Love everything about the video, post more! ;)

    Flying the Oregon backcountry

Textbook short approach over steep pine (?) trees ;). Really enjoyed it, thanks.

    Flying the Oregon backcountry

I wondered the same thing. The credits at the end of the video reference Alpha Systems AOA. Am assuming it’s this http://www.alphasystemsaoa.com/

Why did you not complete IFR Training?

Year of 2016 is coming to an end and 2017 is the year I will start my IFR training. I'm pretty excited about it - enough to be jumping the gun as I don't yet have a concrete "start-to-finish" plan, other than to start reading lots of book material on IFR before the instructor training. I'm...

    Made the local news

That is awesome. I remenber reading your post a some time ago on POA, and shortly thereafter I read an article that google had classified as "aviation related"; while reading that article I realized "this must be the same dude that posted in POA". Sure enough it was you - and now i get to see...

power off climb, altitude gain numbers

I don't have a value for altitude gained, but I can describe something similar I did that during my private pilot certificate checkride: while crusing at about 110Kts, DPE pulled power to idle. My first reaction to was "convert" energy to altitude and pitched up to get to Vx until reaching...

Piper Cubs blown by the wind

Ha! That's wild. At my local airport we had winds to 50kts. There was a Cessna 150 that had the wings tied down... but not the tail: plane got flipped tail up, over the nose and landed on its top with wings still tied to the ground. I'll see if i can find a photo from the flight school.

Exactly - it's evident these are DRONES, and they are everyehere (facebook sounds fun, i should get on it)

Simulated Soft Field Landings in my Sky Arrow

Really nice controll - and I like the camera perspective, got to see the stick input. The unobstructed view is great, too.

Piper Cubs blown by the wind

No worries. Someone else will post it for a fifth. (I should've checked, but it's quite a sight, especially the guy that got blown downwind and they all managed).

Am I allowed to do a touch n' go at an airport then depart?

I had to do full stops at both airports during my long cross-country. I would doble-check if your instructor said "stop-and-go"? (Assuming runway length is long enough to do it safely - what I did in my case). Enjoy your flight! Edit: another user already recommended this

Piper Cubs blown by the wind

This video might have been posted before, bit for whoever has not seen it (like myself), it is worth watching. I sometimes jokingly say that Piper J3 Cub flies like a kite. Now i've seen it.

Look at what you people made me do

When I got my first car ever, I liked it so much that couldn't leave it for the night and slept in it, parked in the garage. After POA does to me what they did to you, I'll be sleeping in the plane no doubt. Congrats, looks great, later on post more photos and stories
