Relying on your GPS in Vegas might make you stay in Vegas

I was refurring to a moving map. With a moving map display there is no need for a ADF, just look at the moving map (MFD)of where that fix is. Same goes for a auto pilot, if you have a good working AP then I would never fly a IMC approach single pilot with out using it. That would be like...

    Bad UAL ad placement

United did not fly or land any plane at the WTC, it was the hijackers that did it. What happen at the WTC was not the fault at all of United or AAL.

Relying on your GPS in Vegas might make you stay in Vegas

Why not use what we have that helps fly better and safe. There is no reason not to use a GPS if you have it, not using it is like putting a fire out by blowing on it while at the same time you have a fire extenguesher at hand. We now have cars to drive to work, I use it and I still can ride a...

    G1000 Inop Equipment

The CAS is a warning to the pilot, so it does fulfills the requirement. The same goes for a X over the vacuum gauge, it will give you a CAS warning also, legal to fly VFR. In my POH it says I can fly VFR with no VAC pump working. other AC may be different.

    G1000 Inop Equipment

What regs? A AC is not "regs"

    G1000 Inop Equipment

CAS is crew alerting system. That in itself is a placard saying it is inop. It is legal to fly with the CO detector not working if the CAS is saying it has failed. The pilot now knows it will not work.

    G1000 Inop Equipment

You can fly the plane with the CAS alert saying it is inop, there is a list of required equipment on the plane and that is not required. Some G1000's do not have a CO detector. That is the great thing about a CAS, you do not need to placard it.

Color of AFCS modes -- G1000

Almost all features are OEM specified, the OEM and Garmin together made the G1000 to get the FAA certification. The King Air was mostly done by Garmin. It is much easier to get certified on a new airframe, then retrofit.
