    The fear is driving me…

I have used NLP often during my training. I took Practitioner and Master Practitioner many years ago. and the section of NLP that usefull in flight training is state management(emotional state management to you). more specifically how to shift from fear to confidence so that when you are in...

please read first I am a VFR student pilot presently taking flight instruction in Houston TX. my school is at a very active, very busy general aviation airport located in that city's far northwest: David Hooks Airport in Tomball Tx. I am used to flying in a Piper Warrior I am considering...

how is this an FAA infraction?

a prior person posting guessed that it was Anson Aviation and yes that's who it is. and the owner was either quoting FAA or 141 reg. what he is claiming is that he cannot schedule lessons with someone knowing they would not finish their training at the school. and yet 2x earlier this year they...

how is this an FAA infraction?

some context In 2014, I started my private pilot training at a school in Southwest Houston(based at Sugarland Regional) and after several bad experiences with CFI’s who had poor interpersonal coaching skills in the cockpit, I decided to look at some other schools. At that time I did still have...

    Advice in switching CFI's

its your money so when a school has several instructors to choose from, go up with all of them and choose the one you like flying with and makes the most progress with. I have several instructors when i first took lessons, and few of them had really good interpersonal/coaching skills in the...

nonaviation app helps keep focus in cockpit

when flying, you have to continuously scan your instruments and also scan the airspace around you through the cockpit windshield. you have to keep track of many things: airspeed, altitude, compass heading, planes nose to the outside horizon, other potential aircraft nearby, etc. some of you may...

    aviation weather decisionmaking

If you are looking out the window of your plane on the ground, I wouldn't trust that. if one's destination is over 30 miles away and there is convective actinity over 20miles away, you wouldn't see it. even after takeoff, at 1500 ft, you might see something but no details. maybe I am more...

    aviation weather decisionmaking

as a VFR student pilot (getting close to checkride), I have observed that I may be more conscientious than some when it comes to monitoring weather(previous threads on this website have indicated that some pilots barely even took the time to do so and) that said, one aviation weather tool that...

    Ipad Apps for New Pilot

I am a VFR student pilot in training 90% toward my checkride. lots of seasoned pilots on here making IPAD recommendions(Foreflight is great) though some are saying wait until you solo? respectfully I find the "waiting til you solo" ridiculous. having a Foreflight sectional on screen in ur lap...

American Flyers KDWH - Instrument rating

I fly out of Hooks- I am a VFR student pilot at Texas Flight. weather permitting, I fly out of there 2-3x weekly. in contrast to another post in this thread, I rarely ever see or hear anyone take lessons with American Flyers. I listen to live ATC.net and I might hear them once every 3 months.and...

Joshuajayg, JSSstevens I appreciate that.I had searched through previous threads but your replies clarified a lot. thanks

accelerated IFR programs: when do you fly?

are you saying its all in a simulator OR wearing a Hood/restricted lenses in the cockpit in flight?

accelerated IFR programs: when do you fly?

wow: given the choice between not posting OR going out of your way to post a reply and ridicule a question. that's just rude

accelerated IFR programs: when do you fly?

I am currently a VFR student pilot about 85% of the way toward check ride to those pilots who have actually done an accelerated IFR Program: as I understand, these programs will teach you to fly in marginal weather and/0r at night. yet you can't control the weather, so are most people doing the...

    ForeFlight 8

I tested both Foreflight and Wing X and did a test for about 36 hours. there is just no comparision. Foreflight "runs circles" around WingsX. its not even a close match:)
