Pilot - Social Experiment

Even though I'm at the bottom of the list (I guess somebody has to be, and we did drive, after all) I can verify that Kimberly is a real person who looks just like her photos. And Duncan, since you now know both us AND Tim, you should be able to assuage your concerns! ;)

woo:lol:

Yes, Grant's testimony is far more problematic to discount than Pete's. Grant isn't prone to saying just anything sober or drunk. Still a sufficiently small number for a conspiracy. Or Ed could have just hired an actress who looked somewhat like Kimberly's photo. Sounds like the kind of think Ed would do.

Somwhere in Hollywood a future starlet is saying:

"I played Kimberly at a POA fly-in, to rave reviews"....

Good grief.

You will never stop will you? I am not an actress.

Note to self: Make sure Grant is in on any future practical jokes. ;)

I really hate having to write this post, because in it I have to insult some of my POA brothers.

For those of you who are attached, you get a pass on my insult. Those of you who are UNattached and not trying to get to know Kimberly better, you are either forced to use a Brail keyboard, or you are IDIOTS!

If I were 30 years younger and single, I would most definitely be trying get to know her better.

Doc,

I am not everyone's cup of tea! And in this thread I did not DIRECTLY solicit responses. I did not say, "hey - shoot me a PM if you are single" because I am somewhat selective in who I date, just like everyone else is.

Also, I only know of one pilot within 30 minutes drive of my home who is here on POA.

And I've already met him in person.

So . . . back to square one!

I think I'll go on that site and write back some of the people . . . not sure about the bachelors this weekend.

Kimberly

PS - I am planning to attend an airport event in Petaluma tomorrow. The airport manager is going to introduce me around and says they need "new blood" in the group of pilots they formed at the airport. They are doing a poker run / flour bombing / spot landing contest. Should be fun but my fear is they are all married and / or 20 years older than me.

Kim,

No one is everyone's cup of tea. That's what makes life interesting, but asking a few questions to see if there's anything to it, seems like the natural thing to do.

In case you missed it, my comments were meant as a compliment.

Sounds like a nice weekend if you can meet some pilots, if there's someone there that interests you then all the better.

I'm about to head for the airport if the winds hold out as they are now. Unless the air is really rough, I'm going to fly over my place since I have'nt seen it from the air except from WAY up in an airliner in 20 years. Then I hope to shoot plenty of center stripe landings.

I need to solo over to an airport 20NM away to the avionics shop. Their runway is shut down and they are landing on a 3,000 X 35 taxiway. I started on 150 feet wide, now on 75 feet wide so it's time to cut it in half again. I've told myself that if I can nail 10 landings straddling the center stripe with my main wheels, I'll go over there.

Have a nice weekend,
Doc

Talk about a new way to do a roof inspection!

Have fun.

And thanks for the compliment (sorry I'm bad at accepting complements).

Ooh! I noticed that I used the wrong form of the word complement. You weren't bad at accepting it, you only missed it, I think.

I haven't flown over my place since I started flying again, so I'm anxious to see if the area for my proposed grass strip looks long enough, or looks like a postage stamp from the air. The EXTREME drought conditions here have everything brown and dead so it won't be a pretty sight.

Doc

I was there and certainly never noticed her. Perhaps she was too quiet to catch my attention.

You are lucky I was in between swigs of my iced tea or I would be sending you a bill for a new monitor and keyboard.

Oh Kimberly do you really need so much attention? :rolleyes2:

I'm old enough to be her father.

"Gross"? :hairraise:

Well thanks for that...

No, silly. You're not gross. You said father and so I thought about that and the image was gross. The image of a girl dating her father . . . nevermind.

It came out all wrong, and I apologize.

You are not gross.

Young girls and old men dating are gross. Sorry, even Hefner.

Don't worry you're probably too old for hime (I'm assuming at least because you mentioned drinking:rofl:)

Picking up overly affectionate scientist on a street corner near his apartment in SF at 8pm tonight for our second date. (Maybe he doesn't want me to know where he lives, or maybe it was just for convenience, who knows with this one.)

Going to a secret hiking place (pitch black, my idea). He suggested an Irish Pub with live music but hey I don't want alcohol to affect my decisions.

Fingers crossed tonight isn't like the first date or he is going to be eliminated.

He has too much energy for ME and even made me feel awkward / embarrassed a few times on Monday - long story - but they were not first date appropriate things and I'm thinking it was just nerves.

Well, hoping it was just nerves. The walk will do me good, I haven't been to the gym since before the POA fly-in.

And night hiking is an adventure. If I can I *might* take a picture but then again that would give away my beautiful "secret spot" with a to-die-for view of the coast.

OK, how many red flags can I raise here at one time:eek:

I am such a cynic, my wife hates that about me. But I can't help it.

Dude, calm down. It was just him singing along to music at the bar (you had to be there) and then later at the lab calling his co-worker a bad name. When she was nearby. Nothing too scary but I definitely don't think it is mature to use foul language and say negative things about a female co-worker while you are on a first date with me . . . especially when she is within earshot. I don't wanna get in the middle of a brawl. That would be awkward.

Another update: talked to a potential on the phone. He lives less than 40 miles away but Google says over an hour by car and two toll bridges. I asked him to call me today and he was SO not a good match.

Didn't "get" things I made obvious in my profile and then asked if I fly for a second job when I'd just said law firm was second job. Like seconds earlier.

I don't need the sharpest tack in the box but I don't want the dullest one either. Now I need to write a nice "note" since before hanging up he still wanted to meet for a coffee.

:DOK, just don't want the producers of "Criminal Minds" writing an episode about you..

Dude? Really? I'm too old to be a "dude"

I think we are all sure you'll do the right thing. But the whole "Pilot -Social Experiment" thing is starting to get lost in the fun here. Still Fun though..

Yah and today the guy on the phone couldn't even figure out I was a pilot. I think with the pictures and stuff it would be obvious.

And no, the pilot thing has not really been tested. Perhaps today should be the day I take the pilot stuff off and switch back to being non-pilot. I realize eHarmony matches you (and you don't get to pick) - so that does not help with my expirement.

It is possible the vet and the scientist contacted me, in part, because of the pilot thing - I guess I could just ask them.

As far as the stigma is concerned. I met my wife on a very small dating sight that was set up for people who attended the college we went to. Oddly one of the dates I went on, I did not recognize the woman in her pictures nor her I. We set up a date at a public meeting site. Turned out that she was a friend of one of my exs and we had been on a joint date the high school to prom 3 years earlier.. This meeting was about 10 years ago now.

Good luck though!

A form letter for rejection! :p just kidding

Dear ________,
I enjoyed our (Chat, Date, Walk, Other) on __________. However, at this time I feel as if would be better if we went separate ways. I wish you the best of luck in your search.

Best,
__________

Thanks.

Here is what I wrote (for real):

Hey T****,

I'm sorry but with the 2 hours between us (driving round trip), I am not sure we would be a good match.

Also, I am glad you called but I don't feel that our personalities are similar enough to warrant a face to face meeting.

Good luck in your searches!

Sincerely,

Kimberly

My favorite spot for hiking is around Lands End from Lincoln Park to the Cliff House. I've never been there at night though.

Darn it are you spying on me? That's my secret spot. Great view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the fog horns are cool.
