Do you own your own airplane? Wacha got?

1955 Cessna 170B. In the sixties someone fitted it with a 165hp Franklin engine.

Why did I not know of another RV-10 on PoA!? While I'm putting much less 'sweat equity' in the -10 as I did on the -7A, I have shed a little blood putting the wing skins on dad's -10. He is as far as having the cowling cut and fitted. Just waiting to pull the trigger on radios and pondering all the wiring, details, etc. A lot of the 'major' construction is mostly done, though.

What would it take to get a ride in the -10 sometime?? :aureola:

I don't own it, but I put quite a bit of sweat equity into its construction. Now I fly it like I stole it.

I thought that's because you DID steal it?

Hope to get a ride in it at Gaston's/6Y9 next year!

Well, in my case, the bank owns the cherokee. I get to pay for everything in exchange for having fun.

*Twirls mustache, evil smirk* "why sure, little lady, you ever been in an airplane before?"

 Well, at least never in one that shiny. I hear it's bouncy, too. :D I haven't bounced an airplane...well, not since yesterday afternoon, that is. ;)

1966 Cherokee 6 260hp with 2 other co-owners. It's like our own flying bus...

"Well just climb up here by me, and it's not necessary that we get into the details about the bouncing part until we get waaay up in the sky."

What was the sign on the door of the old-folks' RV in the campground? Something like "if it's rockin' don't be knockin!"

Don't own, at least not yet. Mary and I are non-equity partners in a 79 Archer II based at KILG. No fuel costs or repairs to worry about so a great deal for now.

A small Piper with (almost) no worries about gross weight or remaining fuel.

(Thanks to Steve for the first picture.)

The last pic is mine being the absolutely last plane parked on the north grass at Oshkosh.

1974 C-172 with 180 hp engine. Just flew east coast to west coast round trip again.

I have a Mooney M20J (with one basically non-flying partner) as do a few others on this board. A great cross country machine I've made 2 Atlanta Houston and 1 Atlanta Dallas round trips just in the last month.

These are my two money wasters. I don't fly the Malibu ( I wouldn't live long). I leave that to a pro-pilot! I putt around with the 172.

Someday my colors will be back in style.

Oh, there they are!
Do they work, or are they wired shut?

Who wants to know?:p

70 mph, idle power, roughly 400 fpm descent. Descent increases to ~1,400 fpm with spoilers out. Or so they say.

FYI POA, now is an excellent time to buy an airplane. Many great deals out there. Prices have really fallen.

Partners with my brother in a 1942 PT-13D. A 2 1/2 year project started 15 years ago. Moves in the USAF and other flying projects have drug it out. Our company also owns two light sport aircraft, a Sky Arrow 600 Sport and a Flaming Air FA04 Peregrine.

That is a very nice Turbo Twin Twinkie! :)

This would be mine. I own it outright. Upgrading the panel and interior as we speak. :D 1966 Piper Comanche 260B.

Just me. I flew with a guy back in '89 that had one. His were wired shut. He said there was an AD that required it, but that some people didn't bother.

The L-2M is the hardest airplane I have ever tried to get into!
I think it went something like... grab the strut, stick both feet through the door, shimmy down the strut and slide body onto seat.

Go fly a Legend Cub and tell me how it works. The L-2 is a cinch after that chiropractic exercise.

I wondered what happened to that one. Isn't it the dog that gal in Arizona was trying to peddle?

RV7A - powered by a Subaru Engine (H6 200hp). First flight was 3/29/08. This is me landing at OSH - nice of AVweb to notice my arrival :)
The F/G parts are now primed grey, they'll be painted when it warms up...

Lol....no, you must have it confused with another. She sells a lot of planes. :nono::D

That's a great looking Mooney Lance.

I'd be happy with a Cessna 150, but would love a Commander.

Of course, if I had the money, I'd probably also want a whirlybird... But those are Powerball dreams.

Actually I would like to, if I can just sell the one I have. What kind of specs are there for this one? This is all the equipment I have been wanting, but have been too cheap to install.

Well, what the ad will tell you is that it's got 3520 TTAF, 710 SMOH on both sides, and 710 on the props too.

What I can tell you is that most of this is aftermarket. It only has two side windows, so it's an "A" model, and the B was the first to come from the factory with turbos. The turbos they added are the same system Piper used, Rajay's with manual wastegates, knobs mounted below the throttle quadrant, which looks to me like they'd be easy to kick while getting in/out of the plane and of course allow you to destroy your engines with one little **** up.

Don't **** up.

The factory turbo models came standard with tip tanks from the factory, these are the Brittain aftermarket tanks. I like tip tanks, no matter the flavor.

Interior and paint are listed as "good" and the pictures seem to back that up. Blue fabric seats, nothing fancy.

As far as the rest goes...

Pluses: Instrument panel rebuilt to 6-pack configuration with King HSI.
S-TEC autopilot (system 30, the one that's built into the TC and has altitude hold) is installed, which is good.
Insight engine analyzers

Minuses: No GPS of any kind.
Radios are King mechanical ones, KX175B.

Really, if you tore out the radio stack and put in a 430W, a new audio panel and a 2nd flip-flop radio, this would be a very nice plane. But, the other thing I can tell you is that it's been sitting for sale at $85,000 for a LONG time. Many months. That may indicate that it's not worth $85K, and if it's not being flown it's simply sitting there rotting away.

I'm not sure if it's still possible to add boots to a Twinkie (Bryon, you know?) and if it is, how much it costs. If it is, I'd buy the mostly Miller modded one (dorsal, nose, nacelles, but not engines) and slap some boots on that one instead.

The one pictured is here: http://www.controller.com/listings/...189.htm?guid=6937744FBC91438F9A4FD8DAE0594958
The other one I spoke of at the end, with some of the Miller mods but not the 200hp engines, is here, no price listed there but I found another site listing it at $83,000.

There's also another de-iced one for sale, normally aspirated, and well equipped, here for $165,000 (which means it's going to be on the market for a LOOOOOONG time and maybe even turn into a ramp queen if the owner doesn't go way down on the price).

What's yours got, Bryon?

Agreed, but it's a good idea keep an eye on MP with any turbo'd engine to make sure it doesn't go over and ruin your engine anyway. While human error is easily possible with the manual wastegates, I actually would prefer them. You can just as easily (I'd say easier, really) destroy your engines with a retractable gear airplane if you fail to properly use the gear up/down discriminator. ;)

That's a great looking Mooney Lance.

What Mooney isn't great looking? ;)

Agreed, Lance's Mooney is particularly pretty. :)
