Let's talk about Gilligan's Island

Why not both?
Years ago, at one of my previous jobs, I was walking through the warehouse for some reason. The topic at the time was "Tonya or Nancy". Everyone said, "Nancy", except one guy who said "Tonya". The others said, "Are you crazy?" He said, "Hey, if it's just one night, I'm picking Tonya!" And then everyone else wanted to change their vote.

edit:

By the way, I ran into that guy about 10 years later. He was flying a charter King Air (or similar).

That whole story about being on an island was a FRAUD!!!!!!
Fake news.
First of all, there is no way the Minnow could have landed there since it's not even on the ocean. Second, if they were right there in the middle of the city, they could have just gone to the store to get batteries instead of making them out of coconuts. Third, to get rescued, they just would have had to walk to the nearest phone booth.

And if they were on an uncharted island that nobody knew about, how did they get film footage to to the studio in such a timely fashion?

Back when I was shopping for boats, one of the original Minnows (one of the ones shown in the titles before the shipwreck) was available. It was up in Seattle or someplace like that. Seriously thought about it.

Why didn’t they just patch the hole in the boat

Why not all three?

(Ooo, 1st! )

Look, I'm a veteran of the game. I'm not proud of it.

I can tell you, unequivocally, that three lovely ladies is a dynamic that simply doesn't work. Two works, especially if you have a wing man (or are a wing man) as they are looking to meet men. One works. (Pro tip, if you have a wing man, ditch him.) But three? They are on ladies night out and don't want to have anything to do with anyone that doesn't sit to pee for the evening.

Trust me on this. My batting average is zero on trios, and I've taken a LOT of swings.

You, good sir, are the worst marketing representative for online pron. Good day.

I said
good day!

One of the local sports radio guys was asked, “Ginger or Mary Ann?” He said, “Mrs. Howell.”. What? “She’s rich and she’s old. She’ll die soon.”

I wouldn’t bet on it…Queen Elizabeth likely to reach a 100.

Hmm

Three wimmin, four mangs. There had to be some buggery going on. Skipper v. Gilligan a given.

Natasha. Nothing thing like a hot, sultry Russian. Boris is distracted at the moment….

Sigh. A bunch of interesting threads get shut down, yet, I am left with the imagery of skipper putting the oars to gilligan.

Please, for the love of all that's holy, make it stop...

And all I can say is, in no particular order...

Mary Ann, 99, Jeannie, Laurie Partridge, and Samantha Stevens, Elly May.

You left out Morticia Adams. And, this being an aviation forum, Penny King.

Not to mention Ziva and Abby.

I'm too young to have watched Sky King, and Ziva and Abby are young enough to be my offspring, so it's probably improper to have impure thoughts about them.

That’s a pretty narrow window. Puts your birth date sometime in August, 1967, I believe.

Hahaha... not even within 5 years. Sky King was off the air before I was born, and I don't even remember seeing it in reruns. I honestly don't think I've ever seen a single episode, ever. Which is weird, because I watched plenty of Lone Ranger, but don't remember ever seeing Sky King.

Aunt Bee is a pilot (at least she did solo). Episode "Aunt Bee's Big Moment" (it's out there on the InterTubes somewhere), so let's show a little respect!

Cindy Brady (we're the same age; I can say that).

Billy Jo, Bobby Jo, Betty Jo ... can't go wrong.

Penny Robinson and Nurse Chapel.

The real test ... Miss Crump or Aunt Bea?
I think it would be Aunt Bea or Jane Hathaway (or maybe granny lol).

In real life she (Francis Bavier) was a pilot. There's a rumor that she was a barnstormer before WWII and in the Women's Air Corp during the war. That was posted on the internet and you can't put it on the internet if it isn't true.

Some things that are true -
  • There is no town named Mayberry in NC. The town was probably modeled after Mt Airy, Andy Griffith's home town.
  • Near Mt Airy the town is PIlot Mount, which is a small mountain or speed bump if you're from the west. The name was swapped to make Mt Pilot, the next town over from Mayberry.
  • Siler City is a real place and is where Mrs Bavier retired to. She passed away in 1989 and is buried in the Oakwood Cemetery in Siler City. Her tombstone is one of the largest in the cemetery and being only 150' off US-64, you can easily see it from the road as you drive by.
  • In Raleigh, you can still buy t-shirts that say "Raleigh: Where Barney goes to party."
