Movies where the remake was better than the original. Not talking sequels. Nor spin-offs.
Offhand I can’t think of any. Except for maybe True Grit.

Maybe Ocean's 11. I really like the remake, but I don't think I've watched the original in its' entirety. Casino Royale was also very good, but the original was kind of a spoof, so I hesitate to call Daniel Craig's version a remake.
I prefer the original.Flight of the Phoenix. And it's not even a question.
the True Grit remake better than the original? SMH
Cool, don’t have to wrack my memory. Not a movie, but a series. House of Cards. The British version to me is unwatchable.
There are lots of movies made in the 30's that were later remade that were much better

I couldn’t make it through the new ghostbusters. GagFlight of the Phoenix. And it's not even a question.
Also, Ghostbusters.
I didn't even see it. I just put those out there to get the old men shaking their fist at clouds and because an unnamed mod said I should put GB down too.I couldn’t make it through the new ghostbusters. Gag
In general, I agree, but man, I love Shaggy's version of Angel, after having heard the original a bazillion times. My friend and I had a discussion about this but more in regards to music. Without much scientific study we felt that generally the version you listed to/saw first was going to be your preference.
That makes sense. My friend and I had a discussion about this but more in regards to music. Without much scientific study we felt that generally the version you listed to/saw first was going to be your preference.
The Thing, 1982 > The Thing from Another World, 1951
Nauga,

I couldn’t make it through the new ghostbusters. Gag
But the original was straight (with a very young Jack Nicholson) and the remake a musical. Does that count?Little Shop of Horrors
How about the original original, "Seven Samurai"?Maybe sacrilege, but I liked the remake of the The Magnificent Seven (2016) more than the original, even though I like me some Yul Brynner.

Personal preference, I suppose. I like 'em both.Flight of the Phoenix. And it's not even a question.
YHGTBSM. NFW. Any movie with McCarthy gets an automatic thumbs down in my book. I'll take the original, and if the remake is showing I'll go find something else to do.Also, Ghostbusters.
It's one of those movies I I've seen many times.Never saw it, although I knew the origin of the story was adapted to the westerns.
because an unnamed mod said I should put GB down
