Absolutely love it!!! I think I like the 67 a bit better, but I'm not really sure I can tell the diffetence!!
 
Definitely one of the favorites. Built a model of one as a kid. Painted it green with bigass tires on the back.

Hmm, maybe it was a '67 I almost bought back in the day. I know it had 3- 2 barrels on it, '66 or '67.
 
I know my airplanes, but I don't know jack about vintage cars.

Honestly, not *that* cheap if not restored. Plus, no telling if it has been hit or has any cancer under that "paint is starting to bubble".

yup....it hasta be a basket case. Offer him 10 and see what happens. :rolleyes:
 
Not too shabby as a driver, but it's not concourse quality. Plan to drop another $10-15K for original paint (since the ad says custom paint) and engine compartment refinishing and acquiring OEM parts. Bubbling of the paint and the location screams "rust" to me, the paint (candy apple red?) doesn't seem to shine very well in the photos, and the trunk lid is slightly misaligned.

Otherwise, if you just want a driver, I think the previous $10K offer mentioned above is about right, maybe a touch more for the original (albeit poor quality) documentation.
 
I loved the 3-2 carburation. Easy to deal with. If you can tune a 2 barrel, you can tune a 3-2. (hint: the middle carb was all you had to adjust)

I think my next, and last, hot rod will have the 3-2 setup. It just looks mean.

John Delorean had a hand in the GTO design. I seem to remember that part of the body had stainless panels, mainly the high rust areas like the roof and the drip rail and right under the rear window.

Actually, in the world of cars things has changed.

Find an old unrestored Daytona Charger that has been sitting rusting away and it will fetch more money then that same Daytona that has been meticulously restored.

The unrestored or survivor cars are what is selling now.

I cringe now to think I took a decent '67 SS Chevelle and turned it into a circle track car.

A 72 Mercury Marquis with a 429 4bbl is a good car for a demolition derby by the way.
 
I was never a big muscle car guy even in the era, but I still appreciate them. My cousin had a GTO, and it was a BEAST.

I like all cars. I came of age at the end of the muscle car era. Back then they were just old cars that us kids were buying and thinking we were really cool....

Now the '18 Demon sounds interesting. Supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi, 840 HP and 770 lb-ft of torque, 0-30 in one second, 9.4 seconds in the 1/4 mile. The first street car that will pull the front wheels off the ground straight out of the show room floor.

I've owned three American muscle cars, and now an American sports car.
My first car ever was a 1970 Barracuda with a 318. Not the more powerful 'cuda with a 340 or better, but still very nice.
I also owned a 1979 TA with a Ford motor 428. I didn't even realize that until after I bought it. Very interesting car. Lots of top end but not lots of torque.
I later bought a 2001 (new) Mustang Cobra. Loved it, but sold it in two years and took a beating.
I now own a C7 Stingray Z51.
 
Come to think of it, I've always moved forward in years.

IMO the best years for cars are 1967, whether it be the Vette or the GTO.

I need to start exploring that avenue.
 
I had a 65 LeMans which was a lot of fun. It was really peppy with the 326HO Pontiac engine and a four-speed. Next came a 68 Goat I ordered loaded to the gills. When I picked up my soon to be wife at College tongues were hanging out the dorm windows.
 
Had a friend in high school that had a 69 Z28 with the 302/4spd, matching numbers, but had been repainted. I could have bought it for $2500 in about 1985. I owned a 1968 Impala Coupe that was flawless, I basically gave it away. Oh to have a couple of do-overs.
 
I sold an 1962 Chrysler Imperial in about 1980 for D-Derby for cheep!!!
It was a beauty,,, but by then I had a 1972 Imperial,, sooo I didnt know the mistake and I didnt care,,,, then!!!!!

Depends on what equipment was on that Chevelle SS. If it was a rare combination (SS 454 with cowl induction hood, etc.) would fetch that kind of money. More common Chevelle SS... that's way too much.

Back in my high school / college days, I had a started with a 1970 Thunderbird with the 429 FE big block, 1969 Mach 1 with 351 Cleveland, then moved on to a 1970 Mach 1 in Grabber Blue, Deluxe interior, 351 Cleveland 4 bbl, top loader 4 speed... that I foolishly sold for a pittance because the (then) girlfriend was jealous of it and told me that "it goes or I go." I should have told the ex-girlfriend, "Have a good day... you're walking home." Stupid me.
 
My brother still has the original 351 Cleveland from his 1970 Cougar that was his first car scattered about his living room ...that is not a joke

My Dad had a '71 Marquis with the 429. I took my drivers test in that car. It was as long as a battleship. It was hard on tires - especially the rear tires. (Sorry Dad!)

Man, that thing would outrun most of the Camaros that the owners though was hot.

If I did not feather the throttle while spinning the tires doing red light to red light racing it would throw all the belts off.

But for as sensitive as the disc brakes were, they really faded quickly as I discovered one afternoon after doing a quarter mile sprint and needing to stop quickly afterwards. Man I miss that car...
 
Documented '70 LS-6 Chevelles regularly go for north of $200k.

Had a Mercury Monterrey with a 429 with a big 4bbl Holley. I agree about the gas gauge.

It is ironic that a used airplane costs less than a used exotic car when the plane is more fun, useful and has better travel capabilities. Now a new plane is ridiculous stupid expensive. New Cirrus SR22 is almost million bucks and new Beechcraft Bonanza over million dollars!
