Love 'em! What say you, and how ya like them cooked?

Never had them. I see raw peanuts in the store but only eat roasted and salted peanuts in or out of shell.

Road side local made Cajun ones, oh yeah

The ones in the can, no so much.

Yeah, canned ones, eh, ok in a pinch. But down here you often see 'em roadside and usually good. We always throw a can or two of beer while boiling them, minus the can of course.

Heck yeah!

Showcase of Citrus in Clermont, FL. Best Cajun boiled peanuts I've ever had!

LOVE THEM! I can eat my weight in boiled peanuts. We buy peanuts by the sack and boil them up ourselves. Dang I'm ready for some now!

I like 'em boiled in coca cola and vinegar, add some Worcestershire and hot pepper sauce like Tabasco or Toms......and I'm just makin' stuff up because I've tried them twice and they were terrible both times. ;)

They're good when fresh and hit. Cooked to death, canned and trucked around--no thanks, I'll pass.

The best ones are sold by locals, cooked in a big cast iron "cannibal stew pot" in the side of the road, they appear in the southern Appalachians in the fall when the leaf peepers are driving through. Good stuff!

Agree, that's where many can be found, along the road here in the southeast.

Boiled peanuts are some of the most vile things I've ever eaten. Now on the other hand, there's deep fried peanuts. Those are yummy.

I wish I knew a local place that had some. They made some great stuff a few miles away from where I grew up. Sure do miss that place.

Goober peas is an acquired taste... I achieved it while in New Mexico in the Air Force... there was this street vendor... And, beer and boiled peanuts is a "farty" not a party.

Never met a peanut that I didn't like. I believe Will Rogers said that.

Well actually, deep fried ___________ are yummy. Just fill in the blank.

These are peanuts grown on our farm. The first pic is of mature peanuts that are being inverted prior to harvest. They will remain on top of the ground for about 5 days drying and then harvested [2 nd pic ]. Your best boiled peanuts are taken directly out of the field and in the pot. Boiled for three hours with plenty of salt. Cold beer optional.

Where ya at Possom? Bama or Jawgya? Or neither...

I like them but have never made them at home. A good recipe would be appreciated.

(I'm sure some manly man will be along soon to rag on me for requesting a recipe....)

Ok, ok, what is better for you guys having them boiled versus roasted?

South Carolina
Possum, I can only get Virginia peanuts here in Ohio. What gives? South Carolina peanuts too privileged to come here? lol Thanks for posting those pics. Interesting to see.

They good cold too! At least for me.
I like them cold or hot, although there is nothing like getting them fresh out of the boiling pot. I like peanuts just about anyway you want to fix them. In addition to boiled, I keep salted cocktail peanuts around to snack on too. When I go to football and baseball games I usually get a bag of roasted peanuts.

For boiled peanuts I prefer the smaller 'Spanish' variety. They just have a better taste to me. I like to find them freshly harvested (before they have a chance to get overly dried out) and boil a large amount to put in freezer bags to carry me through the winter.

We just use salt to a batch of peanuts in a good boiling pot. Keep adding salt and taste test as you go. Takes an hour or so to get it just so then keep the boil going to meet the texture you want. TIP: For more salty taste leave peanuts in the water over night..

Get your peanuts from the farmer's market or grocery store in season. We cook em all the time in the hangar along with boiled shrimp (cajun) and steaks on the grill. Add big cooler with beer on ice and you become everybody best bud!! :D

NOTE: Down here you can also hear peanuts called - ground peas, goobers, and penders.

I like them but have never made them at home. A good recipe would be appreciated.

I've only had them fresh out of the...boiler I guess..at a couple roadside stands in NC (southern enough?) and I think they taste like salted pencil erasers.

Nauga,
and brown rubber
