How does this relate to keeping people out of our country who are from islamic, middle east countries with a terrorism problem? I don't see how stopping immigrant visas and refugees will affect our freedoms. :confused:

Read the post, you can do flight training with a visa but you need to pass additional DHS vetting. I think you need a letter from them or something. I had to prove citizenship in order to skip the vetting process.

What in the hell are you talking about? What "freedom" does a foreign national deserve to travel freely or relocate in the US if they so chose?

Last I heard, we are a sovereign nation, with the right to let in whomever we wish, and exclude whomever we wish.

You must have enjoyed the Dem debate on Saturday night, where no candidate could say the words "radical Islam", and each candidate wanted to accept as many refugees as possible. Talk about pathetic - you fit right in.

When the Nazis were invading Poland, the French thought that their Maginot Line would hold back the Nazi horde. That worked well, right up to the point where the Germans simply bypassed the line and invaded via Belgium and the Ardennes Forest. The French weren't looking at what the other hand was doing.

So it is for the French today, and the US tomorrow.
 
Look, I thoroughly believe Isis should be punished by whatever means necessary even if it means civilian casualties. What I can't accept are these reactionary knee-jerk politics that don't punish anyone except those not responsible all in the name of "safety" which is a figment of our imagination.

How do reconcile the Islamic law of killing homosexuals with your notions of freedom? If we have to let them in and respect their traditions, we are going to have to let them kill our homosexuals. And let them honor kill their daughters should their daughters try and Americanize. Under a strict reading of the 1 st Amendment they have the right to do so and as supporters of freedom we must give them sanctuary and allow them to live as they want. It isn't about safety, it is about preserving Western civilization. Little attacks like the one in Paris are not a problem(unless in the unlikely event they get you directly, our flying habits are far more dangerous to us then terrorists.) Mass immigration of populations not compatible with Democracy is the problem.

So far .....baltimore is far ahead of Paris for gun deaths. Paris ...126....baltimore , more than three hundred and far more wounded in baltimore this year. Many more Americans killed by indiscriminate shootings than in France, Germany, etc.

My ancestors were happy to get here, believed in the American dream and realized the people already here owed them nothing. When they came someone they knew took responsibility for them, agreeing to support them if they couldn't get a job. They wanted to be american and part of the american culture.

There are still many who want to come here and feel the same way.

People who wish to come here and live on a government welfare check permanently, or wish to kill us, they can screw.

You and others willfully ignore this difference and lump legal and illegal immigrants in one category. You should be ashamed of your dishonesty.

Yep. Likely we eventually will end up rounding up any and all Muslims in this country and send them to concentration camps in the desert. It's OK, it's for our safety and we get to keep all their property.

Good observation. This is a question that diversity has never answered.

When a new immigrant arrives in a country, should the country change to accommodate them or should the immigrant adapt to merge into the country. I think the reality is that both give a little, but the immigrant should be giving most. They came to the new country because they saw that it was better than what they have available already. To show up and demand that everything be done as it was in their old country is not immigration, it is invasion.

So...do we need to adapt our immigration rules to include some kind of inclusion and conformance standard? I have no idea of what that would look like, but feel like it is a possible path.

Ever been to China town? Is that invasion? No its culture. As long as laws are obeyed there is no issue. If you think there's an issue with culture I know of several white supremacy groups you can feel free to join.

This is true and from what is stated by many of the obvious bigots on this site, much better educated! We tried this type of bigotry during WW2 by locking up all the Japanese on the west coast! A real dumb idea. Took away their homes, their incomes, their businesses, etc. They also participate by usually being in the top of their class in college, and contribute big time in our economy.

Hmm. I don't think that it is too much for natural born citizens of this country to expect that their government protects their liberties, while taking steps to protect their security from non-citizens that would do them harm. Sorry for the Microaggression.

Immigration in our country has always been controlled. People have come here all the time looking for a better life. People who don't have money, who just scraped enough up to pay for the trip over and to apply for the necessary paperwork.

The problem I have with accepting refugees and immigrants from islamic middle eastern countries for reasons of national security. It's what got France in trouble. Its because a measurable number of those people coming over are sympathetic to, or members of, radical islamic terrorist groups.

And I think, we will never be able to distinguish the radicals from the harmless until those countries lead a fight against ISIS and other terrorist groups. They just don't seem motivated to do anything about it. The iraqi police desert their jobs and let ISIS take all the weapons we left them. The iranians are building a nuclear weapon and their politicians use terrorist propaganda to get elected. The Pakistanis knew osama bin laden was hiding in their country. If these people won't stand and fight against the terrorist groups, you can write the whole lot of them off.

What's sad about having a merit-based immigration system, where we let in people who work in specialized fields, invest in innovation, and otherwise help our country prosper?

What's sad is opening our doors to non-skilled, non-working illegal immigrants who, right out of the box, are a drain on our society.

What's the difference between a Chinatown, a ChinaCity and a ChinaState? What if 4 million immigrants from China all settled in Rhode Island? Should people in Rhode Island start speaking Chinese because the Chinese immigrants become 80% of the population?

We already have such a requirement. We just stopped enforcing it. When immigrants become citizens, they are supposed to take an oath.

Or, we can stop the invasion in its tracks by turning away all Syrian refugees (90% of whom look in the pictures like young military-aged men) and stop issuing visas to anyone of Middle-eastern origin. We can revisit that decision in a decade or so.

In fact Europe in general has very strict gun laws compared to America. The AK 47s used in Paris would be much harder to get hold of,were probably smuggled in. Here , they are easily procured, thousands of them in circulation. Very few slaughters like this in Europe. Here it's commonplace, even in a children's school ! Here, It's big on TV for a few days, then another once occurs a month or so later.,

You have no idea of the number of native European girls being raped in Eurotardia by immigrants. Plenty of violence over there without icky guns. Just like polar bear hunting/knockout game in blue cities no one has a gun so young strength wins. These are dark times.
