Don't be insane. NYU. Riddle has zero gravitas outside of aviation and plenty of derision within aviation.

You go to Riddle, maybe if you are lucky you are the one flying the plane. You go to NYU, you have people who fly the plane for you :wink2: .

Get the undergrad in finance with a minor in computer science. Get your MBA. Make silly money on wallstreet. Get your ATP in your own CJ4. You'll be an 'ATP with a MBA' that way too :D .
 
Congratulations on your academic achievement. I hope you can parlay it into a meaningful and enjoyable career. Sadly, I have doubts that such a career lies in aviation, but I would be gratified to be proven incorrect.

A degree from NYU is very much more likely to be meaningful and gratifying then one from Riddle. The gov't permission slip to fly airplanes can be picked up anywhere, no need to get them through your college.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that ERAU is the way to go. We're talking about the career - not where someone goes to college. I had a very strong, gratifying college experience, and currently have a strong, gratifying career as a pilot. No reason she can't do both.

I just saw the post as sorta like the old colonel who needed to chew-out a lieutenant in the morning to go along with his cup of coffee in order to feel that all was right with the world. Or was I mistaken?

Well, I just call them like I see them. I think it's lousy to imply someone's career, or dream, isn't worth a damn.

Now, if it was a slam on Riddle, I'm a big boy and can suck that up. But it wasn't.

I don't think Mike meant it that way at all. I think he was just saying it can be a tough career path. Keep in mind that he is an academic with a role that hasn't changed substantially in a hundred years and it's easy to see his perspective.

Of course I work in a cyclic industry so I don't see the constant upheavals in demand for pilots and the regular mixing of seniority lists as such a big deal.

Very insightful and probably true. NYU MBA, good math background and you will be sitting in first class for sure.
 
Congrats!!!! NYU is a very good school as I'm sure you know.

If flying planes is what you want to do, go to a REAL college with an aviation program (UND, WMU, Purdue, OSU and many others), not a flight school with a half-a$$ed college on the side (ERAU).
 
Congratulations on your academic achievements. I won't comment on the merits of ERAU vs NYU since I have no knowledge to form an opinion.. However, it seems you have a good plan- follow your dream and a back-up plan in the MBA.

Time will tell but they have certainly slipped from a solid 1 to a shaky 3. To the OP: congrats on the academic achiements. I am sure that if you put forth the same effort in your decision it will be the right one for you.
