Ok, maybe my terminology was jacked.

My intended point being: I much prefer the Piper system in the PA28/32s than the Beech bladders.

I agree, the Piper tanks are the easiest maintenance model I have dealt with, but when you have to pull it, you may as well bring a drill with a stop gauge and an extractor on speed wench.:lol:
 
I doubt if the quality is equal to the days of walter and olive. It's a wonder they aren't built in China along with everything else.

Since manipulation of inventory in an effort to affect the value of the stock prior to sale of the company is illegal (unless it's documented and disclosed on a Form 8-K), it's not just more speculation, it's typical nonsense from the king of inanity.

Will Cessna/Textron/Beech/whoever owns the damn thing these days, provide cover for the replacement parts and labor or is this another one of these American GA standard, consumer pays for the recall?
 
Of course Cherokee is not immute to leaks entirely, hence the business that you linked. I'm sure there are business that repair Cessna tanks as well, even though those are suspended inside a wing under a separate skin (well, used to be businesses: nowadays it's much cheaper to grab a tank off eBay).

What makes Cherokee tanks such a PIA to repair is that Piper stupidly did not assemble them using jigs. They were each hand made and assembled.

This means that you can't take one Cherokee tank and slap it in another Cherokee -- the holes won't necessarily line up. It's honestly one of the dumbest things Piper ever did.

So, when you need to reseal or repair gas tanks in a Cherokee, they are sent out to (now) Hartwig, who painstakingly (and expensively) drills out all the rivets, and basically starts over using modern sealers.

I sincerely hope that current production Cherokees don't still have this problem.

There are people out there who have a 757 and buy one for their kid to fly, seriously, the amount of wealth the extremely wealthy have is incredible. There's more multi billionaires than you can imagine until you move to SoFla. They all have something down here for vacations, either a beach condo, house, or yacht.

But 757s are sooooo 20th century! If they can afford the 757, they've dumped it by now and bought 767s.
 
I've had two new ones (one with 20 hours on it, the other still in a generic white paint scheme) come through my airport in the last year. WHO THE HELL IS BUYING THESE THINGS?!?
Had a friend who bought a new King Air 200 for use in his privately held business. Four or five years later he decided to retire and decided he didn't need a King Air. So he downgraded to a new G58. In his mind, it was a bargain.
