Logbook milestone today--logged my 10,000th landing.

Made landing number 10,000 today and did it at KSEP (Stephenville) after getting a big itch for some Hard 8 barbecue.

It seemed fitting for a Texas pilot to celebrate a milestone by flying to a BBQ joint.

And yep, my meal was on the house.

Here's hoping for a few more safe landings in the few remaining years to come.

Regards.

Congrats!

I'm only at 560. Bet Greg doesn't even count em anymore.

Congrats! It would be interesting to know your total hours so we could see a landings/hour ratio!

Hey, JD, congratulations! Nice to see you back on the air, too.

<< Here's hoping for a few more safe landings >>

Here's wishing you many!

Regards,
Joe

C'mon, now, tell the truth. Is that 10,000 landings, or 1,000 landings with 10 bounces?;)

Wow...congrats. I have not even gotten to 500 yet!

Hat's off to you, JD. Here's to a whole bunch more!

mmmmm, bbq! :D

The folks from NC would say otherwise... ;)

Otherwise!
BBQ is pulled pork with a vinegar sauce!!
The rest is flavored ketchup on overcooked beef!
While enjoying REAL BBQ, don't forget the sweet tea and hushpuppies.

Yankees think Barbeque is something you DO...

Southerners know it's something you EAT!

As the "token" Yankee let me pipe in:

1. Pulled pork sandwich, isn't that a "Cuban" sandwich?

and if you guys are this passionate about BBQ (which I will have to try) - How about Chilli?!

Very cool, Sir.
You must be doing something right!
I'm halfway there and if I live long enough, I'll pass you.

Congrats - and the Hard 8 is a worthy destination. Is the red golf cart back online or still broke?

I have to say that is very cool. I know from the "other" board about your rather horrific engine out event. Where did that come in the 10,000?

Congratulations JD. I think I am just around 600 landings myself.

One can only get passionate about it when it is spelled like "Chile." Otherwise its just meat and beans in meat sauce. When its green, its to die for.

And I can BBQ like no bodies business. The secret is to eat meat, not sauce.

Way to go J.D. God willing I live long enough, I hope to join you some distant day in the future.

Congrats JD. It's a bit like starting on your second or third logbook.

Now as to the BBQ thing. If you ever do get to NC, I will personally buy you some real BBQ. "Down East" NC BBQ is the only real BBQ as it is not sugary ketchup slathered, incinerated, charred cow meat. NC pork BBQ is slowly cooked over an open pit while being frequently and gently basted with a mild vinegar pepper and spice marinade. Then, the pork is hand pulled and chopped, carefully avoiding excess fat and grissle. It is best served with cole slaw and fresh hushpuppies.
Hell, I'm a vegetarian but still know the best BBQ is from NC.

YUCK!!!!! NC BBQ IS NASTY!!!!! Nothing but vinegar. :vomit:
Alas, Brook, we must all now question your judgment! I fear a phone call to FSDO is our only recourse, because yer obviously OUTTA YER MIND!!

NC 'que is good stuff, thank you! :D Now, yeah, some folks can put too much vinegar on it (had that very problem last night, as a matter of fact), but that's not a problem with the BBQ, that's a problem with the COOK. See how simple the truth is? :)

Sorry, Tom, but I lived in North Carolina for several years. First time I had what passes for BBQ there I pulled my gun on the cook and demanded the antidote.:vomit:

I had to start finding excuses to chase fugitives in Texas and Kansas City so I could get some BEEF and some SAUSAGE with real sauce, not that pepperfied naptha in a bottle that you pickle pigs' feet in.

:D

Regards.

Unfortunately, I have one more takeoff than I have landings. . .

-JD

LOL well JD I guess you could log that Mooney Landing just not at an Airport. I'd say walking away from that one beats logging a million landings.

Thank you for confirming my point JD.

lessee here, MILLIONS of North Carolinians love it on the one hand. On the OTHER hand there's Brook*. Hmmm ... weighing ... weighing ... sorry, Brook! You lose! :D

*JD don't count - he's from Texas, which can warp a person's brain. Plus he's loco. :) ;)

Tom...IM NOT A LOOSER DAMN IT!!!!! Im just saying NC BBQ makes me throw up for real. Vinegar is a cleaning product not a food product.

Hmmm. Struck a nerve, I do believe! Well, NOT eating good NC barbecue will do that to a person! :)
