Now we are starting to really split hairs. And really outside the scope of the Original Post.

But...

If the Sport Pilot CFI with a PPL is flying in an LSA, then that pilot could log the whole flight as PIC, PROVIDED he was actually providing dual instruction IN AN LSA while the other pilot was getting current and not just along for the ride.
