Ads are how youtube creators get paid and I think creators deserve to get paid so I don't mind the ads so long as they're relatively short.

Ads are how youtube creators get paid and I think creators deserve to get paid so I don't mind the ads so long as they're relatively short.

On occasion, if it's someone I enjoy watching and the ad is for an entity that I particularly dislike, I click on the ad to increase the payment and waste the advertisers money.

But, I suspect the current round of changes will be counter productive - supply and demand - adding mid-roll adds to bazillions of videos will just cause the price of each ad to drop. So, no more revenue, but more people driven to not watch or watch with ad-blockers in place. Or, perhaps, Youtube is trying to drive people to Youtube Red - just like the NFL tries to force people to show up at the stadiums by not televising the games if the stadium isn't full. I haven't sat down to watch a football game in 40 years.
