driving home from work I enter a thick fog bank and immediately go on my instruments. I even said out loud to myself..really what are these instruments gonna tell me. haha First time this has happened.

Ive been caught getting on the highway and once up to speed trying to pull back on the steering wheel.

Any other things that have crossed over to driving?

Better energy management and longer brake life. I get every last ounce of MPG out of any vehicle I drive, and I don't remember the last brake job I did. It's been years.

I actually had a lady I was giving a ride to comment on it once. "You must be a pilot," she said. When I asked how she knew, she told me it was because I rarely used my brakes. I just let the car decelerate on its own. Turns out her husband had been a pilot, and he had the same habit.

That works better on some cars than others.

The Camry I inherited -- no way. It has next to no engine resistance and will get much too fast on hills.

The little VW I used to have? No problem at all. Even the big-ass Exploder was no problem.

I've certainly pulled back on the steering wheel before….

And, heck, I just read off my VIN to the DMV over the phone today, in ICAO phonetics. It definitely did the job.

I had an empty bag of horse feed hit my windshield and stick. I screamed out we are now operating on instruments hahaha my wife gave me the look as I pulled over to remove it.

I had that happen one other time when I lived in Iowa I was coming home from work on my cbr600 and a plastic bag wrapped itself around my upper torso luckily it didn't go over my helmet because it was really hard to get untangle from it. I knew nothing about flying back than but I remember thinking "I'm hit" hahaha

As long as you don't try to firewall the throttle in that Lexus like you do on your Arrow. Gets rather expensive for the transmission.

Trust me, automatic transmissions really, really dislike me.

As a student pilot I drove a 1972 Chevy pickup. One night the headlight switch went bad and the headlights went out. (the headlight switch itself acts as a circuit breaker so the lights don't stay out indefinitely)

My first action was to reach over to the non existent breaker panel to reset the CB.

Another time I was driving and I was really, really tired. I should not have been driving. I decided to pull into a truck stop to eat and rest. About a half mile from the exit I put my thumb on the cruise button and asked. "Center, 123AB would like to divert to Loves' for passenger comfort...."

I was really, really tired. I am not sure but I think the guy on the FM radio approved that request....

A. I fly like I drive so I firewall the throttle on both machines often. That's the fun of having 300hp in a Z28. ;)
B. My 5-sp transmission likes me as much as I like her. I rebuilt her a few years ago and she likes me even more.
C. Although I can do triple digits in the Cherokee or Z28, I prefer the latter .... cuz I am closer to ground and I get wind to blow through my greying hair (it's a convertible). :)
D. Sometimes I really wish I could pull back on the wheel in the Z28 to bypass all the retards clumping in front of me. Not like I don't have enough airspeed. :D

But no, I have (so far) never mistaken driving for flying. I don't yell "clear" when cranking over the V8, I don't run checklists in the car, I don't fear birds along highways. Though I do follow a good shutdown procedure. :)

Honestly, I don't do airplane stuff in the car. But I will occasionally stomp on the empty space left of the brake when I'm driving and automatic, and reach for the non-existent stick.

I am a lucky SOB....

I get out of the V-6 Tundra and get in my V-8 Ford Powered Experimental.......

I often wish my PU had the same motor in it.........

My curiosity about ice was satisfied one December, enroute from Portland to Medford in IMC, about -2C. Descent was not an option. I could see a buildup of about an inch on the leading edge of an antenna, which started whipping back and forth like a happy greyhound’s tail, so wildly I thought it would break off …

… so I pulled over at the next rest area and scraped the ice off the radio antenna, as well as the rest of the front of the car.

(The “IMC” was freezing ground fog, and this was in a Ford Explorer on Interstate 5.)

I’m cured, thank you very much.

Tell you what, the new Tesla has something like that which seems to work.

Not much better than a basic wing leveler or a Century-I at this point from what I hear. Google's appears to be more advanced, but they're still in the Experimental category and seems to be more for the LSA market.

We were driving through the mountains in heavy fog. My wife was driving and as we got higher in elevation the fog started to get much brighter. I told my wife is she climbed up another 500' we'd be on top.

Haha I would have likely said the same.
