Yet more Alaska pictures

Those were absolutely breathtaking!!!

It does seem strange, a couple weekends ago I was flying over green trees and the beautiful blue water of Lake Superior.

Not too many places to put it down if the engine decides it's time for a vacation, are there?

There's lots of places to put down,
it's just that not many are going to be any fun...

Kath,

Nice pictures. Just looking at them makes the air smell crisper. Is that last one Portage Glacier?

Beautiful scenery in those shots, Kath. I thought the rockies in a small plane were breathtaking but those shots are even more so. Where DO they teach you to put it down when the little wings on the front stop spinning? Are there techniques for landing in all that snow and ice, to minimize the risk of landing in one of those big crevasses? It all looks like bad landing places to me...

Kath: All I see are a bunch of mountains snow and ice. LOL

Seriously it explains where the word majestic comes from!

Kath, those are great. The Rockies have nothing on that.

(where's the drooling on the floor smilie when you need one?)

The last one is Surprise Glacier, emptying into Prince William Sound.

Not much one can do if the engine quits. The airplane is pretty much hosed, the strategy is to survive the crash... and have that flight plan filed.
